An Honest Review of the ASUS 1000HD Eee PC Laptop

The ASUS 1000HD Eee PC Laptop has both advantages and disadvantages but it's a great value buy either way. Personally, I'm fairly impressed with the unit. The Celeron chip is one of the great attributes of the laptop. It can run XP applications a lot faster than most other chips running at higher capacity. The only downside to this positive aspect is how much power the unit sucks up.

The battery life usually will last up to three hours, sometimes more if you properly charge it before first use. If you happen to be looking for a wonderfully portable unit with the power of home tower computer, then this might be the laptop for you. The ASUS 1000HD Eee PC Laptop's back panel is rather simple to open in case you're looking to get access to the DDR2 memory unit.

The ASUS 1000HD Eee PC Laptop, standard, comes with 1GB. I highly recommend increasing that to 2GB. The upgrade is cheap and you'll be thankful you did in the long run. The laptop has a very cool alloy click button that far exceeds the quality of most of the plastic equivalents I've seen on the market. The advantage of the alloy is that it won't wear out nearly as quickly as most other left/right click buttons. This is a point that you should seriously consider buying over, especially if you plan on frequently using your laptop. Durability is key and this is one of my favorite things for sure.

Ok, now for the negatives that comes along, and there are a few. The ASUS 1000HD Eee PC Laptop keyboard isn't the standard full size that you may be used to. It will take some time to learn how to adjust to the new size. On the right hand side, the shift key is rather small and can be easy to miss. If you happen to have large hands or thick fingers, I wouldn't recommend buying one of these. Going back to the shift key, this was the most annoying attribute of the unit for me.

The under belly of the laptop has the rubber stickers that are so common on laptops. These have a tendency to poke your legs. The upside here is that the machine doesn't weight much more than three pounds, so this isn't a big deal. The ASUS 1000HD Eee PC Laptop doesn't have a DVD unit. So, if you were hoping to watch your favorite movie on your laptop, you're out of luck on this one. The biggest downside with this particular issue is that if you ever end up needing to reinstall windows you will require an external drive to do so. Yeah, kind of annoying.

Finally, the ASUS 1000HD Eee PC Laptop is a high quality machine that will do more than you might think it could. This isn't the laptop of choice for a heavy gamer, but it does offer wonderful portability and can be found for less than $400 in most stores. Again, this is a great value buy.
