The ASUS Eee PC Seashell

These days everything is getting smaller, lighter but more efficient. Everyone wants the slimmest mobile phone available on the market with the widest screen or the smallest music player that can store the most tracks. The greatest innovation are laptops and notebooks. A great example of portability is the ASUS Eee PC that has all the best characteristics: it is small and light which means it is very easy to carry around, it has great performance and unlike other notebooks of this kind it is not very expensive.

Let's start with portability. You can definitely find another laptop that is even smaller and lighter, but that will come with a much higher price. If you really stop and think, the IT industry has developed so rapidly that a few years ago you couldn't imagine having a notebook like this one. It is only 1 inch thick and weighs only 1.1 kilograms. Still, it costs only 430$ unlike the MacBook Air that costs 1000$ or even more if you want a better performance. These features really make the Asus Eee PC a great competitor. A laptop should firstly be light because it is useless to have a laptop with great capacity that weighs a lot. You don't want to have a second computer like the one you have home. You want something easy to handle and to carry. Technological development has lead to the changes that can be seen especially in IT. Of course that further changes will occur and they will probably improve this domain even more, but, until then, this is a great choice if you are really looking for the best quality/price ratio.

Another thing you must have in mind when buying a notebook are its capabilities. Asus Eee PC has a wireless receiver that allows you to connect to the Internet almost everywhere and it has a decent 10 inch LCD screen that still allows you to do the usual: watch movies, navigate or play. It has a 160 GB HDD capacity which is quite a lot and 1 GB RAM memory which allows you to do more than one thing without risking a restart. It also has a 1.3 megapixel webcam, a multi-touch pad that comes in quite handy and a brilliant keyboard. The smart thing about it is that the size of the buttons is almost the same as the size present on your PC keyboard, allowing anybody who uses it to adapt easily to it and write faster. Still, it is considerably smaller in length, so the distribution of secondary buttons has changed and it has no numpad buttons which can sometimes be annoying.

The best thing about the Asus Eee PC Seashell is its battery. It is eco-friendly and lasts up to 6 hours. Few laptops are able to match this, and the ones that do cost way too much. Another good thing is the Bluetooth connectivity. You can easily transfer data to your mobile phone with this and it comes in handy when you don't have the phone's data cable with you.

After using it for a while I found some disadvantages too. First of all it doesn't have a CD-ROM. You practically have to transfer data from another computer to yours using USB sticks. That can be a problem if you have large files that you want to transfer (a thing that you can say it is already solved by the 32GB sticks or more) or if you don't want to lend your USB stick to someone else for a longer period of time. Also the screen can be annoyingly small if you want to watch a movie with your friends.

Overall the Asus Eee PC Seashell is a great product and it is addressed to young people that want portability, durability and smartness at a low price. I would definitely buy this notebook.
