The Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, Georgia

Big Lights, Small City

I had the pleasure of visiting the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, Georgia back in June, 2009 and was very pleased with the production, so I couldn't wait to visit again. This past week was opening night for the brand new production at the Aurora entitled, "Kiss Me Kate".

Kiss Me Kate is a production that boasts music and lyrics by Cole Porter and the book is by Bella & Samuel Spewack. "Kiss Me Kate" was directed by Alan Kilpatrick; music was directed by Ann-Carol Pence and Choreographed by Ricardo Aponte. "Kiss Me Kate" began on August 6, 2009 and runs through September 6, 2009. The cast and crew of this lovely and funny musical were true professionals and kept you engaged in the play at every turn.

The Aurora Theatre is located at 128 Pike Street in Lawrenceville, Georgia 30045 and offers so much more than plays and musicals. They have wonderful live music that includes Swing Night, which begins next month with the Metro Jazz Club. The Metro Jazz Club is a 17-piece band accompanied by The Magnificent Maxine Cummins. The hostess for this event will be the Associate Producer, Ann-Carol Pence.

The Aurora Theatre also offers what they call, "Funny Fridays", beginning August 28th, 2009, which is where local and national comedians come together to put a little fun in your Friday Nights. So, you don't do funny do ya? Well, the magic continues with Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 8:30 p.m. for Ghost Tours. The Aurora Theatre has something for everyone and they even have the Aurora Children's Playhouse where you'll see the best young talent in the region showcasing their inner thespian.

Season tickets are on sale now for all of the following plays and musicals:

August 6, 2009 - September 6, 2009 Kiss Me Kate

The Aurora currently has a special called, 5 for $55.00. You can purchase 5 tickets and use them to enjoy any Five Funny Fridays, Aurora Theatre Studio Production or Swing Nights for one low price. In my opinion, it's well worth the price of admission.
