The Australian Joker

A Poem on Heath Ledger

Todd Walker
Heath Ledger born right before the decade of money and greed began,

Was destined to become the actor that many a woman were a fan.

Coming to America his career immediately took flight,

In roles that were amazing, and ones some called trite.

From a soldier in The Patriot, to a suicide in Monster's Ball,

From A Knights Tale to The Four Feathers he had touched all.

Ned Kelly, The Order, and The Brothers Grimm brought further success.

Getting rave reviews for in Brokeback Mountain for his alternative cowboy dress.

But even in post mortem his efforts had still not gone away,

For his final film as the legendary Joker was awaited in that May.

Overworked, over exhausted, overstressed life was too much,

Like a runaway train unaware of the tracks that lay ahead he became as such.

Heath Ledger we will miss you,

For your acting talent and life was true.
