Vadodara city, situated in the Gujarat State in India, is a cultural and cosmopolitan city of India. The city has a population of around one and a half million. The city is full of lavish hotels and restaurants as there are people staying here who are fond of eating outside. The varieties of restaurants in Vadodara are simply amazing. I was able to visit an authentic Italian restaurant in Vadodara during my recent visit to India with my family. This restaurant is "Pizza Meo". This restaurant serves authentic Italian pizzas and other Italian food delicacies like pasta, salads, and soups.

This unique restaurant is situated in Sayajigunj area of Vadodara, just opposite to the famous statue of Sardar Patel, very near to the railway station. It is strictly a vegetarian restaurant. The internal layout of the restaurant is all Italian with paintings of famous Italian artists. This restaurant attracts young generation in particular. We went to have dinner at this restaurant on Saturday evening at around 7 pm. The restaurant was just starting to get crowded but there was no problem for us to get our table for four. The menu was consisting of many varieties of Italian soups, and salads as starters. We ordered two veg Italian mixed soup and a platter of mixed Italian salad. These starters were served within around fifteen minutes and we ordered our main course of pizzas. There were around nine different varieties of pizzas available here, all in Italian style and taste like Margarita, Salcisia, plain cheese, and the special variety of Pizza Meo. All these pizzas are available in two sizes of eight and twelve inches size in circular shape. The eight inch size pizza can be sufficient for around one to two persons while the twelve inch size pizza can suffice two to three persons. We ordered Salcisia and Margarita pizzas, both in twelve inch size between four of us. We also ordered two servings of delicious garlic breads along with Mountain Due as the cold drink. The pizzas were served steaming hot and were extremely delicious and mouth watering. The cost of pizzas was found in the range of Rs.120 ($2.40) to Rs.180 ($3.60) for twelve inch size and Rs.90 ($1.80) to Rs.130 ($2.60) in eight inch size. It would be economical to order twelve inch size pizza as compared to eight inch size. The pizzas were made in thin crust design and were extremely soft and crisp. Though, we did not go for the deserts or ice creams, these also are available in large varieties, again in Italian style. The total bill came to around Rs.560 ($11.10) between four of us, which can be considered quiet cheap, based on present level of standard of living in the city of Vadodara. We completed our dinner by around 9.00 pm and could easily reach our home by 9.30 pm.

The restaurant has a capacity of around fifty and you will certainly need to book your table in advance, particularly during the weekend days. This restaurant also serves full Italian buffet dinner in the evening on every Friday between 7.30 pm to 10 .00 pm at the rate of Rs.180 ($3.60) per person. This buffet dinner consists of unlimited servings of two types of pizzas, soup, breads, three varieties of pastas, and around three delicious varieties of cakes and puddings. The restaurant remains open from 11 am to 11 pm every day. Though, there can be some problems in getting suitable parking place very close to the restaurant during the evening hours on weekends. However, one can get suitable parking quiet easily in the near by area. The restaurant also serves the menu items on to go basis but do not offer home delivery. The restaurant is handled by the same management as Kalyan Restaurant, which is one of the most lavish, and decent restaurant of Vadodara.

We really enjoyed our dinner at this fine dining Italian restaurant at the city of Vadodara and have no hesitation in recommending it to all my friends and readers who are likely to visit city of Vadodara during their next visit to India.
