The Awkward Valentine's Day of Joe's Daughter

My Worst Valentine's Day

Stacy Whitaker
I would normally be very excited about Valentine's Day. I mean, really I am a bit of a serial monogamous so I have always had a boyfriend on Valentine's Day. That is until this Valentine's Day. This Valentine's Day turned out all wrong.

When my boyfriend showed up he looked handsome as ever. The clean cut look has always been my thing. Black creased slacks, royal blue shirt, fresh hair cut, and an earring in one ear that hints of a bad boy. I let him in and posted him in front of the television with the remote in hand. This would give me a little extra time to primp before he became impatient. About thirty minutes later I am ready to go.

As we merge into traffic, we get side swiped by a speeding car. It stuns both of us but luckily we had our seatbelts on. Before either of us could speak the OnStar comes on and asks if we are alright and if we need help. My boyfriend immediately says no and I immediately say yes.

A few minutes later the police arrive and begin to talk to ask me questions. They continue to refer to me by another woman's name. I finally asked who they were referring to. One of the officers turned to the other and said "The chief is not going to like this." I begin to explain that I was not the one driving and as I was looking around for my boyfriend I spotted him with paramedics. I begin to walk over to make sure he was ok. I was swiftly interrupted by an officer telling me the chief just arrived and was looking for me.

The officer stands me in front of a very large man who I presume is the chief. I proven correct when the officer says, "See, Chief. I told you your daughter was fine."

"That is not my daughter!" The chief said

The Chief rushed off to see who had been driving. By the time I made it to the ambulance the Chief was being held back ranting about my boyfriend cheating on his daughter in her own car.

I looked at my now EX boyfriend and all he could do was mouth the words sorry.

Just when I thought this moment could not get any worse the chief who was composing himself looked over at me. "Aren't you Joe's daughter? We play cards together every Friday."

Happy Valentine's Day to me. Earth open and swallow me whole, please.
