'The Bachelor' Jake Pavelka Sends Corrie Home: How Did Corrie Handle This?

A Healthy Reaction to a Relationship that Wasn't Meant to Be

Season 14, 'The Bachelor' Jake Pavelka is getting down to zero hour. On episode five, he sent Corrie home, leaving Tenley, Ali, Gia and Vienna. What happened with Jake and Corrie? Or what didn't happen? How is Corrie handling it?

Listening to Corrie recap on her way home, after Jake Pavelka, 'The Bachelor' sent her home, I heard some psychologically interesting things happening. Corrie comes across as the proverbial, bubble headed blonde. Listening to her speak she sounds drunk, high or on some kind of prescription medication. Corrie's not noticeably well spoken. But even with those possible handicaps, she expressed her experience with Jake Pavelka, on The Bachelor, quite eloquently and gracefully.

Corrie stated that she never felt any real bond with The Bachelor, Jake. The other four girls on The Bachelor, came back from their dates with Jake, according to Corrie ' all bubbly', sure that they were in love with him. Corrie admits that she never felt that way with Jake Pavelka. But at no time did I hear any 'sour grapes' attitude with Corrie. You know that type of bachelorette, that when sent home, is angry and, feeling rejected, tries to make out that she was never that interested in The Bachelor to begin with.

There was no bitterness in Corrie; there really wasn't any regret in her voice. Corrie seemed almost relieved and at peace with her experience on The Bachelor. She was able to self-analyze and accept that she was not attracted to Jake, did not see them together and that she was consciously or not holding back. Corrie was able to admit that Jake Pavelka didn't seem to feel a bond with her either. I was impressed that Corrie, for being only 23, was able to let go of Jake Pavelka gracefully and wisely. I was impressed that Corrie actually said that Jake was right to send her home.

It's young women like Corrie who redeem The Bachelor television show in my eyes. Personally, I think the producers of The Bachelor are playing with fire. It's potentially dangerous to assemble these women, parade them, encourage them to form attachments and hopes and then dismiss them one by one. I think the premise of The Bachelor is an emotional powder keg. I only hope that no one on The Bachelor, is ever emotionally damaged by the experience. Girls like Corrie, who are able to come on the show with a 'give it a try' attitude, while maintaining her integrity and sense of self, without bitterness are the ones who will survive in a situation like this. I wish Corrie all the best and I'm pretty sure that she will find her 'Mr. Right'. Meanwhile, back on The Bachelor, Jake has the tough job...

Although I don't watch this show, I did in the past for a brief period and I agree with your insights about it. I'm glad that this young lady didn't lose her mind about being sent home.

I agree that this show is an emotional powder keg. I always worry about one of the girls (or guys) having an unhealthy attachment and turning into a stalker after the show is over. Some of them seem so goofy! :)
