No big secret here. If a guy is looking for a one night stand, sure he'll be reassured with you throwing your panties at him at your first meeting. But if he's looking for a lifelong partner? Well, you better keep those babies tucked away. A lifetime is a long time for a couple to be together, and the more you save for later, the more he has to look forward to. I'm glad Matt called her out on this in his private screening time. This is a big no-no, along with her overly drunken self. The first meeting isn't the place to showcase your party girl persona. He's going to think you're an alcoholic! The fact that she didn't know anything about London was another deal breaker, as if the first two weren't enough! And lastly, PDA with a complete stranger who you're not sure returns the interest, while he's talking to another woman is just plain uncomfortable.
Rebecca
She comes in and meets a British gentleman. She's wearing a beautiful tube top floral number, very feminine and ladylike. A few minutes later she's doing some kind of booty dancing. Remember, this is the first time you're meeting a British gentleman. Let's let him see your more ladylike tendencies. It's just plain weird seeing someone booty dancing in a gorgeous knee-length frock!
Michelle P., Ashlee, Carri
I'm going to say it once. Your vocal chords are not going to get you a rose. Sorry ladies, but men prefer impressing you, not the other way around. This isn't a talent show girls! Maybe take your chops to American Idol? I'm not saying this is why he didn't give you a rose, I'm just saying putting yourself out there like that isn't going to up your chances. The little time that you do get with the Bachelor on one of the first days shouldn't be about broadcasting your talent. He's not a talent scout. He's looking for love, so he wants to know you as a person. There are other ways to stand out. Ashlee made it farther, but I think it had nothing to do with her voice. In the end she was cut because of her music. Why should the Bachelor choose someone who would be traveling for her career all the time when he is happily situated in London and there are other girls who would join him in London?
Kristine
In every interview that Matthew Grant has done, he says why he likes American women. They are more outgoing. So, I'm guessing the fact that Kristine wasn't outgoing but more reserved and shy was something that Matthew wasn't looking for.
Kelly
So, she gave Matt a good massage. She's athletic and fun. Definitely fun and outgoing, two characteristics that Matt is looking for. But does she have a serious side? He tried to find that out, and what did she do? She unbuttoned her shirt to reveal her black bra. Not what most women do when they're nervous, but that's exactly what Kelly did. So what is Matt supposed to think? Wife material? Not exactly. If she could have managed to have a serious, romantic conversation instead of bringing out her goods, she may have still had a chance to move forward.
Marshanna
It's always a bad sign when you start talking negatively about other girls to the Bachelor, even if it's just to say you had a little tiff with them. Also, Matt is looking for someone genuinely athletic since he's very athletic. In her interviews Marshanna goes on about how she played rugby for him. She went skiing for him; she did all these things for him. Matthew wants someone who does these things because she genuinely enjoys them, not just for him. He loves skiing, and she didn't catch on quickly while so many other girls were doing well. She just kept falling. If this is one of the reasons why he let her go, it may seem shallow, but considering he had all these other women who could play sports and were genuinely athletic, why not let her go?
Robin
She was absolutely furious when she didn't get picked. She glared at him from across the room. She never showed an ounce of tenderness on the show, something that all men want from their women. She even said, "Fine, they win!" in her exit interview. Here's the problem. It isn't a game to be won, which Robin apparently made it seem like. Even if men don't admit this, they want to feel like they have to earn your attention. But how could he have earned hers if she was always the one interrupting him and his time with other women? How could he even have a chance to miss being with her if she was always there? And that's nice that she tried to relate to him so much with her experience with the British culture, but remember, he came to America to choose a wife for a reason. If he wanted a British woman, he would have stayed in the UK!
Holly
Many people were shocked that Holly didn't get a rose, but some things were obvious. When he approached her about being "too comfortable," around her, I think he meant there was no challenge or laughter. Besides an outgoing woman, Matt also said that humor is key. Holly was too perfect: too agreeable and not at all funny. From watching the show, I don't think I ever remember them really being silly or genuinely laughing together over something in their conversation.
This doesn't include all the women who didn't get a rose, just the ones where there were obvious reasons why they weren't chosen.

Post a CommentI love it! Relationships are my favorite thing to study, and I thoroughly enjoyed The Bachelor this season. I thought Matt was a true gentleman and extremely wise in his decisions. Unlike previous bachelors who could be swayed by a little display of "skankiness", Matt was turned off by that kind of thing (i.e. the panties, the open shirt). I was impressed. In the end, he chose the woman I also felt was right for him, someone he knew he could make a life with, someone who would truly love him and enjoy sharing her life with him, someone he could have fun with and call "Monkey". I'm thrilled that you analyzed the show! Are you watching the Bachelorette? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that as well. I think she's also doing a great job so far...
excellent, great fun read!!!!!!!!!
