The Bachelorette 2010, Episode 603, Review and Recap- June 7, 2010

Count Them, 3 Man Cries in One Episode of the Bachelorette!

Wendy Dawn
The Bachelorette 2010 episode 3 began with Ali, the All-American Bachelorette, and 14 remaining bachelors. This week held two individual dates and one group date.

The first date card delivered to The Bachelorette mansion announced a date for Ali and Roberto, who, in my opinion, will end up with Ali in the end.

Roberto and Ali on a Hot First Date - Review Episode 603
Ali swept Roberto away in a helicopter to downtown Los Angeles. Roberto coddled Ali through the chopper ride. (Yes, she was scared. Give her a break she has never been in a helicopter. )

Ali's first impression of Roberto was that he was hot. She has learned that he is also kind and caring. She felt that walking a tightrope across a skyscraper would be the ultimate adventure for her and Roberto, and give her a chance to explore the connection with him.

Roberto was with The Bachelorette 20 stories high when he nearly pulled her off the tightrope to kiss her. Gutsy move.

Ali is enamored with Roberto. He seems to be falling for her, and it is only the third episode! (Good thing they didn't fall off the tightrope.) They cuddled following the circus act to get to the other side of the skyscraper.

Roberto seems too good to be true, but I'll tell you the truth. I'm not going digging on the Internet to find out bad information about him. He seems to be the total package: looks, kindness, strength, speaks multiple languages and he is romantic. All early indications put Roberto in the lead of the contest for Ali's heart.

In addition to the insane tightrope walk, the other insane thing was the way Ali was acting. She was giggling over Roberto like a school girl. She even made a few ditzy blonde comments, like being surprised that a guy named Roberto spoke Spanish.

Group Date: The Bachelorette and the guys film a rock video with Barenaked Ladies
Kirk, John, Chris N., Jonathan, Craig R., Justin, Jesse, Frank, and Chris L. received a cryptic note inviting them to "Rock her World."

Ali had the men dropped off in a remote area of LA, where they were greeted by Bare Naked Ladies. The Bachelorette and her posse of men helped film a video with Barenaked Ladies. Many of the scenes involved intimacy.

Recap and Review of 2010 Bachelor, Episode 603 - Jonathan Breaks out a Man Cry During the Video Shoot - Seriously?
The Weatherman, Jonathan, was given a scene in which he got to kiss Ali. The other men were jealous, but par for his character, The Weatherman started getting all nervous and sweaty. He looked like he was about to tinkle his pants because he "had" to kiss Ali.

No offense to anyone with such inclinations, but when I look at The Weatherman, I wonder if he really, deep down inside plays on the other team. (Yes, I'm questioning whether he is gay.) He is so soft and effeminate. He might start an entirely new spin-off called The Bachelor Meets The Bachelors. (It could happen.)

Neither of them were really into the kiss and Ali herself said it was awkward. She had to baby him after he cried when the guys were ribbing him about the scene. It was a man cry on national TV! It was hysterical. It was also his death warrant.

Good old Ali. She really is a caring person. She comforted him and eventually wrapped the scene by pulling him into a passionate kiss. After which he looked like a little boy who had just stolen his first kiss.

Then, during his alone time with Ali he wanted to talk about his nerves and insecurities. She is his caretaker. That is not what she wants. She may keep him around for entertainment value, but he will not make it in the long run.

Ali wants a man not a child, and Jonathan is a child. Think about it. He drew hearts on his weather screen in his debut video. Did you see that? What was that all about?

The Bachelorette on the Group Date, Episode 603
Ali had no problem (I mean no problem) flaunting around and having a good time with the guys at the music video shoot. It is obvious that she thoroughly enjoyed herself.

My only fear is that her fun filled days are coming at the expense of several broken hearts.

Justin breaks out of the 2010 Bachelorette pad - Recap Episode 603
Justin has apparently never read Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People. He is alienating people very quickly in the house. The men are 100% in agreement that Justin has ulterior motives.

Justin set out to prove them wrong and get his time alone with Ali. Crutches in hand he hobbled partially up the hill to where Ali is staying. (Yeah, I bet he didn't hitch a ride in the previews - Lying entertainment wrestler.) Also, it isn't like he really sneaked out of the Bachelorette mansion since the cameras were following him. If they hadn't wanted the accompanying drama they never would have allowed him to hobble allllllll the way up that big old hill. (rolling eyes)

It is difficult to get past Justin first meeting with Ali, when he ripped open his shirt to reveal his entertainment wrestling nom de plum: Rated R. This was the most obvious case of prostituting a name and career that I have seen by a bachelor.

Ali was surprised to see Justin. He gave her a big spiel about why he climbed the mountain just for her. He did a lot to win Ali over with this move, and she fell for it.

Even though he completely alienated every other man in the house with his macho-man trek up the hill on crutches, Justin could not care less. He is ready to confront these guys. He is turning up the heat in the house and on the competition.

He even turned on the man tears while talking about Ali with the guys at the 2010 Bachelorette mansion. (Bachelorette, Episode 603 - 2nd set of man tears in one show! How great is this.)

Justin is nothing more than a player. He is toying with Ali's heart, and he will end up on the loosing end of the fierce competition he has created. He is treating the competition for Ali's heart like a Royal Rumble, eliminating his competition one-by-one.

I believe she would have sent him home during the rose ceremony, but his presence drives ratings

The Second One-on-One Date with Hunter - Review
Hunter secured his first one-on-one date with Ali, which was interrupted by Justin's visit to Ali's place. (That's just wrong.)

Ali said that Hunter's date was a make-it or break-it date. Justin's visit put more pressure on Hunter (Whose ears are big enough he could have flown away).

Hunter and Ali's date was anticlimactic after all the exciting dates with the other men. Hunter seemed awkward and didn't click. She is well rounded, and he is square.

It was painfully, painfully obvious that Hunter didn't win Ali over. He won a one way ticket home.

Recap and Review of the Drama at the Mansion
John C. was feeling insecure. First, he is the least of the good looking guys on The Bachelorette. When the group filmed the music video with Bare Naked Ladies there were 8 video scenes. He lamented the fact that his scene was the only one which involved absolutely no contact with Ali. John C. was out of his element. It was clear that Ali would be sending him home.

Frank felt really good about himself. He figured that since he had the first, first date and first kiss with Ali he has some kind of frenetic connection with her. According to his reasoning, he kissed her for real, not in a video shoot. He reveled in that fact, until the passionate video scene with Kirk.

Frank made a point to remind Kirk that his first kiss with Ali was in a video shoot. Kirk felt it was real. Frank assured him it was an act.

But then...

Kirk and Ali find a spark
Kirk and Ali jumped in the pool and kissed. This was a little sickening because it reminded me of Vienna's hot moves on Jake Pavelka in the pool, securing her a place in his, well, uh.....

Kirk and Ali's slobbering all over each other made The Weatherman and Frank sick, too. Frank took matters into his own hands and jumped into the hot tub interrupting Ali's time with Kirk.

That didn't stop Kirk from getting the rose on the group date. Kirk has finally put his foot in the door, but he has a lot of kicking to do to get past Roberto, Frank, and Ty.

Kirk and Ali shared sensual heat, but they have not spent any substantive time together. Ali is too smart to make a decision based on sexual interest alone. I predict she will take Kirk on a date next week to see if there is anything more to their connection.

Steve Sets Up an Impromptu Date
Steve had a gut instinct that he was falling behind in the competition for Ali's heart, so he set up a few candles and brought out a bottle of champagne. Ali thought it was really sweet, until he couldn't open the champagne. Even that wouldn't have been so bad if he had (A) gone to the kitchen for a corkscrew or (B) hadn't said his hands were fragile.

Steve was too antsy, jumped the gun by trying to set up his own date, and created his own downfall.

2010 Bachelorette Recap and Review - The Remaining men
Craig R. didn't have a lot of interaction with Ali this week, but he had a lot to say (Of course, he is an attorney). He spent most of his time watching Justin like a hawk and drinking beer. He enjoyed being in front of the camera offering commentary. I expect Ali will have a one-on-one date with him next week.

Meanwhile, Ty is developing strong feelings for Ali. He is a great guy. He and Ali have had good times together. Even though the only time we saw him this week on The Bachelorette was when he was crossing words with Justin. There's not a lot to report about Ty, but I want to mention him because I believe he is a sweetheart. I really hope he makes it to the final four and becomes next season's Bachelor.

Chris L. made progress this week with Ali by leaps and bounds. He finally fessed up about his mom's death and even explained why he didn't mention it when Ali first asked him about his family. The secret is now in the open, although it wouldn't have been if Ali had not asked him about his tattoo of his mother's signature. (Oh, the drama of it all!)

Kasey spent this week whining about not spending time with Ali. He was looking a little dejected. There seemed little chance he would go home this week. Ali is fair enough to give him a chance, and besides, he has already been spotted in a preview of an upcoming episode. We knew he was getting a rose tonight. The good thing about Kasey hanging around is that he honestly looks out for Ali's best interest. He had no qualms about confronting Justin.

Recap of the Rose Ceremony, Episode 603
Ali had nine roses to give out in this episode of The Bachelorette.

This was perhaps the most predictable rose ceremony in the history of The Bachelorette. The lucky men were Chris L., Jesse, Chris N., Ty, Kasey, Craig R., Frank, Jonathan, and Justin. Roberto and Kirk were already safe pinned with roses from their dates.

Steve, the fragile handed man did not get a rose. John C. never had a chance to get to know Ali, and now he never will.

Predictions of the Final Four on The Bachelorette, Season 6
Unless something unforeseen happens, other than Justin's girlfriends coming forward, I predict Kirk, Ty, Chris L, and Roberto will be in the final four.

Michelle, I really don't know if the bachelorette will choose any of them, but I think that (a) she is getting great pr for herself, (b) Roberto will have to turn out to be a jerk - I'm not single, but he looks pretty good, or (c) it's just another one of those rumors. There are some pretty reliable sources, but I'm trying to hold off on spoilers. It seems so much more fun to play the guessing game. Abbey - She was different with Roberto. When her voice starts to slur a little, it is almost a forced smile, like when Justin walked to her house. I'm not sure she like it, but she has to keep some guys around for a while, so she may as well hang on to the good looking ones. Thanks for the comments about the Bachelorette. Let me know what you think.

    Nice... :o)

I think she giggles way too much with all of them. I don't know if that is a nervous reaction or she truly is ditzy and giggly?

  • Robert Lee Alford6/8/2010

Great job once again, you are always impressive in your writing.

Wendy, Another AC contributor said Ali will not choose any one of them. He labeled it a "spoiler" - do you believe it?!! I'm not so sure. cheers :)
