The Bachelorette 2010 Episode Eight: Ali Has Four Fantastic Hometown Dates

Joyce Carole
Season six of The Bachelorette is winding down and this week Ali is back home in the United States after her whirlwind International tour, ready to visit the families of the four remaining guys. Which guy gets the first hometown date with the Bachelorette? That would be former professional baseball player, Roberto. Read on to find out how Ali's hometown dates go and which guy fails to make it to the Bachelorette's final three.

Ali Plays Ball with Roberto in Tampa, Florida

Anyone who has been tuning in each week to watch Ali's quest for love on ABC's Bachelorette can tell you that Ali has it bad for the handsome Latino. I have stopped counting the number of times the bachelorette has referred to Roberto as "hot" or "cute". The date begins with Roberto meeting Ali at the baseball field. Roberto charms the bachelorette by wearing his old baseball uniform and giving her his baseball card. Ali, stays true to form, and tells Roberto that he looks "so hot" in his picture.

Next, it is time for the bachelorette to meet Roberto's family. Roberto's father voices his concern that Ali seems to have many of her own personal goals, which might get in the way of his son's goals. Roberto's mother, on the other hand, tells Roberto that if he is happy with Ali then he should propose to her (I see a woman anxious for grandbabies). The family then commences salsa dancing and unlike many families who dance in their living room, Roberto's family can actually dance.

Chris and Ali Get Cozy in Cape Cod

Chris may not win the heart of the bachelorette, but there is no doubt that he has won the hearts of countless women across the country (and the world for that matter). The tall down to earth guy from Cape Cod is the total package. He is family oriented and sincere and in my opinion, a much better catch than the slightly standoffish Roberto. Chris appears to have one of those families where you just feel comfortable and welcomed. Ali seems to loosen up and enjoy herself more here than she has earlier in the season. Chris's family all express their desire for him to find happiness. This is a really nice guy with a very inviting family. Chris is everything that former Bachelor, Jake is not.

Will Kirk's Father Scare Off The Bachelorette?
The first two hometown dates went smoothly for the love seeking bachelorette. Ali's hometown date with Kirk got off to a weird start when Kirk's (very strange) father invites her to "come see his basement". Kirk's father is a taxidermist and the walls are crammed full with stuffed animals. Ali takes it all in stride and actually sits down and has a serious conversation with Kirk's eccentric father. Next up the Bachelorette heads off to met Kirk's mother (his parents are divorced and do not speak). Ali voices her reservations about Kirk being unsettled due to his parents' divorce. Ali and Kirk get along well, but according to the spoilers, this is the end of the road for Kirk.

Frank Has the Final Hometown Date with The Bachelorette

Ali's final stop is Chicago for her last hometown date with nervous Frank and his family. Ali comments that she and Frank are great together. Their hometown date begins with a boat ride where Ali grills Frank about his concerns. Frank stutters and stammers an answer about the importance of this journey and how he can have so much faith in Ali, but she can send him home tomorrow. Ali's conversation with Frank rapidly turns into a one -sided pep talk. Frank is one stressed out guy and we have not even gotten to the parent introductions. Frank's parents voice their approval of Ali (perhaps they are just looking forward to their son moving out). Honestly, I am not sure what the bachelorette sees in this quirky, nervous guy, but she seems to really like him.

Who Does Ali Send Home?

It is the toughest Rose Ceremony yet for the kindhearted bachelorette. Ali interacted well with all four families and is in tears during the night's rose ceremony. Ali hands the first rose to Roberto, the second rose to Chris and the final rose to Frank. Kirk is crestfallen and hurt. His parting words were that it hurts that he showed his true self to her and wasn't what she wanted. My guess is that this charming guy will not be heartbroken for long.

Did Ali make the right choice? If you believe the many spoilers circulating that state that another girlfriend scandal pops up next week in Tahiti, it sounds like Ali sent the wrong guy home.

Thanks for the update, I am so far behind in reading/commenting and trying to catch up since our camping trip - I might as well cancel our cable because I haven't turned the TV on since we got back! This was a good update, I wonder if Ali will find her true love? cheers ;)
