Right from the get-go on The Bachelorette week 4, the guys were told that they're be leaving the mansion in LA for good, and they seemed to relish the opportunity to travel. Meanwhile, Ali, who had already set up shop in NYC, enjoyed a make-over and dished about some of her suitors, including Kirk, Roberto, Chris L and the "funny" Frank. She took some fun photos, and then learned that she'd be appearing in an issue of In Style. Boo ya.
In the guys' apartment, Kasey became the first man of the night to win a one-on-one date with Ali. The other guys were, predictably, jealous. But really, when are they NOT jealous of others' one-on-one date opps? Kasey said he'd be "crushed" if he didn't receive a rose, while the rest of the pack sat around and ruminated over his chances. Meanwhile, Kasey and Ali boarded a helicopter and they took off. (This feels familiar... oh yeah, the high-flying date with Roberto last week. How original.) As they flew over the city, Kasey waxed poetic (and vaguely stalkeresque) about his "special" feelings for the Bachelorette, and vowed to "guard and protect her heart". Uh, scary. Later on the ground, Kasey serenaded a very uncomfortable-looking Ali with a tune he made up at some point during their date. Again, sort of weird. I get wanting to win, but it's not good to sound obsessive.
The pair continued their date on The Bachelorette week 4 with an after-hours visit to the Museum of Natural History. Ali claimed that she was "keeping an open mind" with respect to Kasey and his unabashed cheesiness (why, girl? Why?!) and they proceeded to run around in the darkness with flashlights. Right-o. Meanwhile, back at the bachelor pad Roberto, Jesse, Craig, Ty, Frank, Jonathan and Kirk learned that they'd be enjoying a group date with their main wannabe squeeze. Frank relished Justin's dejection, which I would ordinarily think mean, but the Wrestler seems like such a player that it doesn't bug me. Sorry dude.
At the end of her date with Kasey, Ali wrestled with whether or not she should give the cheesemaster a rose. Why she even had to debate I have no clue. It's so totally clear that she doesn't really want to be with him. He gave one more stab at winning her over with another horrible personalized, line-ridden song, but Ali didn't buy it. She told him that she wants him to be real with her, straight up, and didn't give him a rose. He looked crestfallen until she told him that she didn't want him to leave the show. Really? She can do that?! I had no idea. Kasey vowed to prove his adoration, and boy, did he live up to it later. Again, in stalkeresque fashion.
Later, the seven group date guys met Ali on Broadway at The Lion King. Ali told the pack that she was feeling a bit under the weather, but said she'd do her best to keep up. The guys were told that they'd essentially audition for an individual date with the Bachelorette, and were put through the motions by a Lion King choreographer first. Then, they had to sing for their supper. And dude, it was painful. There are some seriously tone deaf dudes in the bunch. Jesse probably had the best pipes, but Roberto won her over with eye contact and won the date. And THEN he learned that he and Ali would be appearing IN The Lion King instead of watching from the seats. Roberto was pleased; Jonathan branded himself a schmuck for wrongly approaching his audition. (Really, Weatherman, it wouldn't have mattered. Ali is smitten with Roberto. He could've been completely off key and drooling and still won this date. Why? Because he's smooth.)
Ali and Roberto rehearsed their roles as the rest of the pack watched, moaned and complained from the audience when The Bachelorette week 4 continued. The guys watched in agony later as Roberto and Ali did their thang, and Ali confirmed to viewers that she was beyond thrilled that Roberto had come away with the role, which equated to their second high-flying date. At the evening's post-party, a still under the weather Ali took Frank for some alone time, and each separately proclaimed that they were crazy about the other. Back at the apartment, Chris L received a card for an individual date. He was pumped. Meanwhile, Ali had alone time with Craig as Jonathan schemed to get some face time of his own. He tried; She shot him down. He left. Ooooh, not good. Kirk stepped in and told the ill Bachelorette that she needed to get to bed and get better. Citing a lack of focus, she opted to forego giving out a rose for the evening, and Kirk took her back to her room. Again, the Weatherman brooded. He likes to brood. And use stupid weather analogies. No. No, no, no.
At the guys' apartment on The Bachelorette week 4, Chris L packed for his date while Kasey lamented his failure to receive a rose. Boo hoo. Still-sick Ali sent birthday boy Chris a note changing the venue of her date to her suite, and he loved the idea. He brought her flowers and chicken soup and while she ate, he told her about the passing of his mom. Back at the ranch, the dudes noted Kasey's absence, and then viewers heard him lament Ali's criticisms of his sincerety and watched as he went inside a tattoo parlor. Say what?! Nothing says stalker like an impromptu tat praising a chick you barely know who's looking for lifelong love on TV!
So yeah: Cheesemeister Kasey had an image of a shield guarding a heart tattooed on his crazy-bum wrist. There are no words. It's like drunk tattooing, only HE'S NOT DRUNK. He's just nuts.
On the one on one date, Ali and Chris L headed out on the town to a quiet club. Chris told her more about his mom, and about her rainbow symbolism. Ali then told him to call his dad so they could chat. Ali said she'd "love to marry into" a close-knit family. Aw. Chris seems so refreshingly real, especially when compared to... krazy Kasey, who returned to the apartment and claimed to have a burn and some hospital time under his belt. Justin didn't buy it, and labeled him "a fibber!" Oooooh, a fibber! Pot? Meet Kettle.
Ali (of course) offered Chris a rose, which he accepted, and the pair ended their date with a private performance by Joshua Radin, a little dancing and some hearty smooches. Chris is hook, line and sinkered for Ali. Which may not be a good thing. I'm feeling sincerity from Chris, and the sincerest of the bunch don't usually walk away winners.
Back in the apartment, the pack discussed the upcoming rose ceremony, which was essentially Kasey talking about himself and bagging on Justin. Ali arrived and kicked off The Bachelorette week 4 cocktail party. She thanked Kirk for taking care of her the night before, while Jonathan finally finageled some alone time with blondie. He and a guitar offered up a serenade. She looked less than impressed. It was... odd. And awkward. Sort of like Kasey part two. Meanwhile Justin plotted to expose the real Kasey. Humor aside, the hypocrisy here is mindblowing. We haven't seen much of Justin this week, but he hasn't exactly been the sultan of honesty and full disclosure.
Drama reached fever pitch as Justin and Kasey went head-to-head over the former's concerns that the latter had been lying to Ali. Kasey revealed the tattoo to the guys, who all basically said he was nuts. Ty said he was "getting crazier by the minute". Cocky Justin praised himself for accurately predicting the true nature of the 'burn', but whatever. It's not like he's a bastion of great honesty either. Again: Pot? Kettle. Get over yourself, wrestler.
Kasey chatted with Ali and presented her with her favorite candy but totally chickened out when the time came to show her the tattoo. So yeah, Frank, who interrupted their interaction, totally saved the stalker here.
The Bachelorette week 4 came to a close as Ali handed out eight more blooms. Kirk received the first rose, followed by Frank, Craig, Chris N, Roberto (wow, it took her a long time to get to him!), Justin and Ty. After brief deliberation, the final rose went to Kasey, ensuring cloudy skies for weatherman Jonathan and Jesse. Jesse was gracious in departure, while a surprised Jonathan bemoaned his fate. Really, though, is anyone but him surprised here?
Tune in next week for more drama, drama, drama as Ali and the remaining guys head to Iceland. Will Kasey show her his tattoo? Will Frank crack under the pressure? Will Justin be cocky? Watch and find out.
