Who Gets to Go on the One-on-One Date with Ali?
Chris announces to the nine guys that they will have to compete to go on the one on one date with Ali by composing a poem for her. The guys scurry around each with the hope that he will be the one to win the heart of the bachelorette. Craig was the first guy to read his poem aloud in front of Ali and the other eight guys and while his poem made Ali laugh it was Kirk whose poem made the bachelorette swoon. Kirk won the coveted one-on-one date with Ali, causing the other eight guys to simmer with jealousy.
Kirk and the Bachelorette's First Date in Iceland
Kirk and Ali's date begins with the two browsing around the shops like a couple of normal tourists. I have to say, while Roberto is still my favorite suitor, I really like Ali and Kirk as a couple. After their shopping excursion, the pair settles in at a rustic café where Ali grills Kirk on his past dating experiences. Ali feels that Kirk is holding back something, which troubles her.
Meanwhile the other eight guys are debating on whether or not Kirk will receive a rose on his date with Ali. It is not long before mail arrives announcing who will go on the group date. The group date has Roberto, Chris L, Chris N, Frank, Craig and Ty. This means that it will be Justin and Kasey on the two on one date with Ali. Kasey looks less than thrilled (actually he looks like he is about to cry). Kasey and Justin appear to have the same mutual dislike for each other as Ali and Vienna had during last season's The Bachelor.
Kirk Reveals His Past to Ali
Kirk tells Ali that five years ago he got really sick, so sick that he thought he might not live. His story seemed to inspire Ali. Not only did he get a rose from the Bachelorette but also several pretty steamy kisses. The two of them sitting together, both wearing plaid flannel shirts, they make a really cute couple.
Kasey, The Bachelorette 2010's Nutcase
"I came here specifically to find love with Ali." That is why I got that tattoo to be a man for Ali." These are just a few of the ridiculous quotes from the looniest Bachelorette contestant ever. While Ali and Kirk enjoy their special time together, Frank tries to comfort an increasingly distraught Kasey. Frank asks Kasey when he is going to show Ali the tattoo. Kasey tells him that he wants to show the tattoo to Ali, but now (with the upcoming elimination date) he is too nervous. Kasey tells Frank that while he can handle physical pain (at one point he even states that he likes physical pain), he can't handle the emotional pain, nor does he think he can handle it if Ali sends him home. All I can think is where did the producers of The Bachelorette find this guy? He is just so over the top weird.
The Group Date: Ali and Six Guys Explore Iceland
Iceland's rugged beauty is the perfect environment for Ali. Ali may be the most casual "tomboyish" bachelorette ever. The date begins with a horseback ride over the rough snow covered tundra. Ali had never ridden a horse and Roberto comments on how fearless she is, while Ali is amused by Chris L's lack of horsemanship. The next stop on the Bachelorette group date is a caving adventure. Ali and the six guys get strapped up and repel down to the bottom of the cave. Ty assumes a "take charge" attitude, helping Ali and the others with their harnesses. Ali seems impressed with the Tennessee boy's helpfulness. Chris L is the first guy to go down into the cave with Ali, causing the other guys to get jealous.
The Bachelorette and Her Men Strip Down
After the caving adventure, Ali and the guys head to Iceland's romantic Blue Lagoon. Ali helps heat things up for the six guys by peeling off her outerwear to reveal a blue bikini. The guys follow suit, it is not long until Ali, and the six guys are all enjoying the steamy water together. Chris L and Ali have some alone time, where they start kissing which causes Frank to get more than a little paranoid. Ali confronts him during their time alone about his lack of enthusiasm on the group date. The date ends with Ali giving the group date rose to Ty.
Justin Reveals His Dark Side
Back at the hotel, Justin reveals that he is hatching a plan to ensure that Kasey is the one to go home on their elimination date with Ali. First he has his cast taken off, mobility is important during times like this. He seems to get a real kick out of taunting Kasey and Kasey is pretty good at taking the bait. Justin is definitely not on The Bachelorette to fall in love with Ali.
Ali's Dream Date with Crazy Kasey and Smarmy Justin
Justin shows up for the date without crutches, which seems to please Ali who keeps exclaiming, "no crutches". Ali and her two suitors begin the date with yet another helicopter ride. The helicopter ride takes the trio over an erupting volcano. The date then moves on to an ice cave. It comes as no surprise that Justin dominates the conversation and Ali's attention. Justin and Ali enjoy some alone time. I am not so sure that the bachelorette was buying Rated R's lines, but given the choice of smarmy Justin or crazy Kasey what is a girl to do?
Kasey Reveals His Tattoo to Ali
Now it is time for Kasey and Ali's alone time. Ali tells Kasey she wants him to "just be normal". Kasey responds by showing Ali the tattoo he got in her honor (demonstrating that he has no idea what normal is". Ali shows the appropriate degree of shock and dismay. The date ends with Ali choosing to give a rose to the scheming wrestler. The two hop back on the helicopter, leaving a dejected (and crazy) Kasey stranded in the ice.
The Rose Ceremony, Who is Eliminated?
Before the night's rose ceremony, Ali takes Frank, Craig, Chris N, Chris L and Roberto aside one last time to see which one should be eliminated. Chris N struggles to answer Ali's questions and there appears to be no chemistry between the two. It comes as no surprise (especially with all the spoilers circulating) when Ali fails to give a rose to Chris N.
Next week the Bachelorette and the remaining seven guys head to Istanbul, Turkey for an episode filled with drama. Spoiler Alert: Rumor has it that this is the episode where Ali gets a phone call alerting her that one of the guys (Justin) has a girlfriend back home. Tune in to ABC on Monday, June 28th to see Ali rip into the scheming entertainment wrestler.
