The Balance of Power in the Pac-10 Has Officially Shifted

College Football Week 12 Rankings

Andre Asbury
Week 11 in college football saw 6 teams remain unbeaten and thenational championship picture had no real changes. The top 8 in the BCSretained their spots from a week ago. There were, however, several goodexciting games in the next tier of teams. Most notably was the Ohio State vs.Iowa game, which Ohio State pulled off in overtime. I was particularlysurprised by the line on this game. The official line I saw was 17 points infavor of OSU and my computer said OSU by 12. Two teams in the same conference who each had lost 1 conference game and the team that alsolost an out of conference game (albeit to USC) was favored by more than 2 touchdowns. Wow.

The other big game in the rest of the top 25 was Stanford'sdrumming up on USC at USC. Many people thought Stanford would really give thema run for their money this year because Harbaugh hasdone an excellent job getting the Cardinal competitive in the Pac-10. It was a 55-21 drubbing at the Coliseum in LA. It's good to see the Southern Caldynasty end. They have been one of the nation's most loved teams for solong and I like to see conferences that are competitive, with several teamsnear the top that are still alive for the conference championship this late inthe season. Harbaugh has to be a top candidate forNational coach of the year, along with Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech and David Cutcliffe at Duke, who have been winning at schools worldrenowned for academic excellence.
