The Banana Sled, Tubes and Wakeboarding Have All Come of Age

Patty Oh
If you're looking for a fun way to pass the day boating, you won't go wrong with any of these three fun, floatable devices that you'll love using when you're boating. If you have any of them, you'll be the envy of all of the boaters in the water!

The Banana Sled
How loud can you scream F-U-N? The banana sled provides hours of fun for everyone. These sleds are incredible! They're called the banana sled because, well, originally they looked like you were riding a big banana in the water!

Do you want to pull 3 people? You got it. What about 4 people, 5 people, 10 people or even 12 people? You can do. The banana gives new meaning to the fun that boating provides the entire family. Pull the big banana with your boat, and your guests will have the time of their life.

The banana sled is almost as much fun to watch as it is to ride on. No. Make no mistake about it. Being pulled on a banana while boating is ten times more fun, but it's still fun to watch.

The prices range from $500 and up. As you'd imagine, the more people your banana sled can carry, the higher the price you'll pay. The weight capacity typically begins at 300 pounds, and increases to as much as 1,800 pounds as the number of people it holds increases.

The Water Tube
Tubes provide fun for one, or for everyone! The tube has come a long ways since its humble beginning as simply an old, plain, inflated tube. Pick a color, pick a design. You'll find the selection endless.

The majority of tubes are designed to tow one or two people. Some tubes are even designed to tow three. Best of all, you don't need any special skills (other than being able to swim!) or abilities to enjoy tubing while boating!

Pulling tubes when boating is even easier because they're priced right, affordable to all. The average price ranges from a low of $70 to as high as $250 or more.

Few tubes have weight ranges largely because they are limited to towing one or two people at a time.

Wakeboards
If you're looking for something a bit more challenging to do while you're boating, wakeboarding could be for you. While similar to water skiing, wakeboarding is different.

What's wakeboarding? It's a cross between surfing, snowboarding, water skiing, and skateboarding. The wakeboard itself resembles a snowboard more than any other piece of equipment. It's shorter and wider than the typical snowboard.

You'll find wakeboards fun for the whole family. The average family will find it easy to use the same wakeboard for beginners of all ages.

Along with a wakeboard, you'll need bindings to keep your feet secure on the board itself. When you're shopping for a wakeboard, make sure to get one that your whole family can use, and that will be useful for more than one season.

You'll find wakeboards and bindings selling from $300, up into the thousands of dollars. Some wakeboards and bindings are more adaptable than others, so take your time shopping around.

Just like snowboarding, wakeboarding has exploded in popularity in the past 10 years. Your family is sure to love wakeboarding while boating, too!

Regardless of which you choose, any of these water toys are sure to delight any boater!

Very good review Patty. I am sorry that I haven't gotten to read many of the articles. I will catch up on them. The tornado that struck SE Wi., hit our neighborhood. We were very fortunate in only losing the roof on our porch. A lot of our friends and neighbors were not as fortunate with their homes. I am happy to say though that there were no serious injuries.
