The Band Perry's Talent Keeps Them Going Places as Their Audience Grows

Renee Bagley
You may remember an article I wrote a while back where I called The Band Perry "the next big thing." It turns out I was right, but anyone could have seen that ship coming. The trio of two brothers and one sister have played for 12 years as a family band, so they are no stranger to the road and music pursuits. Since then, they have been nominated for a Grammy for their song "If I Die Young", and will soon be opening for Tim McGraw.

Kimberly, 27, Reid, 23, and Neil, 21, reveal they have been a family band for 12 years. They call performing the only thing they have ever known. Reid says they feel the benefits have outweighed the negatives in the business, calling his brother and sister his best friends. The trio also admit to being big Tim McGraw fans, also saying they hope to capture the hearts of some of his fans.

Neil admits Kimberly being the oldest allows her to steer the ship, calling Reid the peace keeper, and himself as the jokster little brother. As a family band they often have their mother on the road with them. She helps her with everything from band stylist to road referee. Although their father stays home with his career as a pediatrician, sometimes he can be seen on tour.

The Perry family grew up in Mobile, Alabama where they learned to play guitar, drums, mandolin, and the accordion. Kimberly was the composer of the band's biggest hit, "If I Die Young." Growing up she was in a band and her brothers were her roadies, eventually forming their own band consisting of three part harmony. Their musical inspirations through the years are Hank Williams, Bobbie Gentry, and The Rolling Stones.

They were first signed to Republic Nashville back in August 2009 . They are just now finding fame as larger audiences have discovered their undeniable talent. Since then they have released three singles: "Hip to My Heart", "If I Die Young", and "You Lie." Each of the songs arriving fresh off the debut album released October 12, 2010. The awards have since rolled in as their careers begin to soar to new heights.

Most recently, the band was invited to participate in the Purina Double Dog Care campaign, which helps to promote the company's new formula as they dare consumers to check it out. In return consumers get to dare them to do various challenges until February 28. Submit your dares for a chance to win $5,000.

The Band Perry is definitely going places. They are talented, likable, and deserving and here's to them.
