The Basics of Building a Powerful Wizard on Wizard 101

Wizard 101 players will find it easier to advance through the worlds and quests if they are making the best use of items to power up their wizards. You begin with very low levels of health in the game and gradually build as you advance in levels. You can take advantage of in-game items to boost yourself and make game-play easier.

Firstly, you will want to use the best clothing you can afford or find. Some clothing offers extra health, magic, spells, resistance, power or accuracy. Depending on your schools strengths and weaknesses and your preferred playing style you should choose clothing that complements and boosts the area you desire.

For example, the storm school spells in Wizard 101 have lower accuracy rates than others so I like to have clothing that boosts accuracy. Some clothing boosts only specific school spells while others boost everything. I personally use spells that only belong to my primary school, so I look for clothing that is school specific. If your style involves using multiple school spells, then you would probably want to look for general boosts.

Some schools have higher health than others, so you might want to concentrate on power. It really depends on your strategy for playing.

You can win clothing from battles, purchase it in the shopping district of all the different worlds, buy it in the bazaar or buy crown gear from the crown shop. Clothing from different worlds have the look of that world. With the addition of stitching to the game, you can now take the style clothing you like and stitch it with the stats of other clothing to make outfits that provide the stats you want with the style you desire.

Another way to boost stats in Wizard 101 is with pets. Certain pets offer spells or boosts to your stats. You can also purchase pets, win them or get them from activating a gift card on your account. These can be purchased at places like Game Stop, Best Buy and Walgreens.

The final way we recommend you power up your wizard in Wizard 101 is through your other gear and your wand. Wizards get stats from their at home and ring, even though you don't see them in game. You can view them by opening your backpack and see the stats they offer. Some gear is only available as boss drops and cannot be bought or sold. The better gear is not available for purchase. The same is true of swords. I recommend you use a sword with a different school spell attached so you don't set off your blades and traps during a battle but you can use it to get rid of a weakness before casting a school spell.
