Type in anything relating to copying DVDs and you'll get results out the wazoo. Movie lovers are always after the best ways to burn copies of DVDs, but many of us technologically challenged people have difficult getting anything to work. There are burners you can buy at the store, or you can even use such methods as the X-Box 360 to burn DVDs but these devices can be very expensive and not very user friendly. The best and easiest way to burn DVDs would be to find software you can download over the internet and utilize that. That way, all you really need is a computer and a decent internet connection. Most newer computer models come with burners.

Most people agree that the free is usually better. In the world of software, however, free is not always a good thing. Especially when the software comes from a questionable website or is guaranteed to be used a lot, it's probably better to just go with a trusted, paid version. DVD copying software is no different. If you try the free stuff, you might literally get what you paid for. It might not work for one, which mean you'll have to download more copying software. It also might come with unexpected guests. Your free download might have been bundled with a bunch of obnoxious and dangerous spyware that is now infecting your computer. The security risks of spyware and the annoyances are very real. Certain kinds can cripple your system and steal your identity. Be wary of the free downloads that grab your attention.

The best way to get familiar with DVD copying software is to read reviews and do you research. Many paid programs come with technical support and recent updates. If you get stuck along the way of installing or copying your DVDs, you can usually be assured of some kind of support that will be able to help you. You will also be assured of no spyware or adware if you go with trusted paid programs.

If you're planning copying your DVD collection for the sake of having backups, you'll probably within the law. However, if you're going to download the software to make a profit off the DVDs, you are probably in violation of copyright laws. You should always be aware of these and not do anything legal with the software. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. You might see other people doing it and not have charges or repercussions brought against them. That's not a guarantee that it won't happen to you. You may be the next one the production companies go after to make an example of. Play it safe; don't break the law.
