Simplify Your Life For Less
Everyone has hairstyle needs for work, or work-outs, business as well as after hours, and finding a style that will take you through your daily routine is the only real solution. Whether your hair is straight, wavy, curly, thick, or thin, here are the basics.
Straight Hair
Whether you prefer to wear your hair short or long, straight hair will always be straight. Even after curling, it will fall straight again, so you might as well embrace your sleek look. I can remember ironing my hair in high school to make my hair go straight, unsuccessfully.
Try trimming the ends (all the way around) at an angle, so a top layer is slightly higher than the bottom layer, providing a gentle pageboy curl under the jawline, or shoulder-length. Pull it back, away from your face, and wear it with clips when you want a different look.
Curly Hair
Really curly hair always looks full and freshly curled, short or long. The curl will be weighted slightly the longer your hair gets, offering a different solution. Shorter curly hair may be easier to take care of, just shower and go.
As your hair is drying it begins the curling process automatically. Know there are many who are jealous of your curly-locks. A pony tail full of curls may offer both an elegant-dressy, or baseball-cap casual look.
Wavy Hair
Neither straight nor curly, wavy hair curls the way it wants to, when it wants to. Plagued with wavy hair, I have never been able to smooth my hair for sleek styles, or keep it super-curly either.
Short wavy haircuts are cute, if you can wear short hair. I have found that all-over layering works best to create fullness and curl (without curling) regardless of your hair length.
Thick Hair
Whether you prefer short or long hair, thick hair can be difficult to care for. Conditioner and/or spray-on de-tangler is mandatory to smooth your locks.
Layered cuts will also help manage the fullness, and try crimping wet hair with your hands for natural curls. Learn to love your exotic looks as framed by your massive mane of hair.
Thin Hair
Thin hair is usually baby-fine and soft to the touch, but has trouble holding a curl. Blow drying your wet hair will create fullness, as will a little hair spray afterward. Sometimes a midday misting will fluff up your style.
Hair gel or mousse also works on thin hair, although only apply to wet hair (to prevent clumping or worse - more thinning). A shorter hairstyle, curled under the jawbone, may be easier to promote fullness.
Regardless of your hair color or the shape of your face, your perfect no-fuss hairstyle is just waiting for you to find it. With only a few modifications you should be able to dress up or dress down your hairstyle.
