Are you fat and obese? Are you statistically overweight? The U.S. National Institute of Health says that the health term "overweight" refers to "an excess of body weight compared to set standards. The excess weight may come from muscle, bone, fat, and/or body water" (source). The NIH continues, saying that "obesity refers specifically to having an abnormally high proportion of body fat. A person can be overweight without being obese, as in the example of a bodybuilder or other athlete who has a lot of muscle. However, many people who are overweight are also obese" (source).

In this health and dieting article, I'll discuss what it means to be overweight. I'll also show you how to create a healthy, well-balanced view of weight loss and how the proper diet can enrich your life!

What is weight loss? It is a context of medicine, health and physical witness. It is a reduction of the total body weight due to mean loss of fluid, body fat, adipose tissue and lean mass. Bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue is an example of weight loss. Diabetes mellitus is also known as insulin-dependent diabetes that leads to an excessive amount of glucose and an insufficient amount of insulin int the bloodstream. It triggers the release of triglycerides from adipose tissue and catabolism of amino acids in muscle tissue. The results in a loss of both fat and lean mass, leading a significant reduction in the total body weight.

One area involves the science of bionergetics including biochemical and physiological energy production and utilization systems that is frequently evidence of diabetes and ketone body. Acetone particles occurring in body fluids and tissues involved in acidosis is also known as ketosis. In addition to weight loss due to a reduction in fat and lean mass, illness such as diabetes, certain medications, lack of fluids intake and other factors can trigger fluid loss. In addition of fluid loss, the reduction of fat and lean mass exacerbates the risk for cachexia.

Weight loss occurs when an individual is in a state of negative energy balance. When the human body is spending more energy in work and heat than it is gaining from food or other nutritional supplements, it will be use to stored reserves of fat or muscle. Although weight loss may involved loss of fat, muscle or fluid, weight loss for the purpose of maintaining health should aim to lose fat while conserving muscle and fluid. It is not uncommon for people who are already at a medically weight to intentionally lose weight.

The least intrusive weight loss methods, and those most often recommended by the physicians are just an adjustments to eating patterns and increased physical exercise. Those physicians that will recommend that their overweight patients combine a reduction of caloric content of the diet with an increase in physical activity. Other methods of losing weight includes using of drugs and supplements that will decrease the appetite, block fat absorption and reduce stomach volume. Medicines with herbs such as fucus vesiculous are most popular by the physicians.

There is a substantial market for product which promise to make weight loss easier, quicker, cheaper and more reliable or less painful to the people. It will spent annually on weight loss products and services, including medical procedures and pharmaceuticals. Weight loss centers are garnering between 6%-12% of total annual expenditure.
