The Battery Left Widget App for Android
Know How Much Juice You Really Have Left on Your Smartphone with this App
The application works by recording and analyzing the time it takes your battery to go down to different percentage levels. Once it gets a few times per level it then averages them and adds them together with the average times in between the other percentages. Because it uses averages, this app has to calibrate with your daily use patterns, so it may take a few days before you get accurate results. But to make sure you aren't following inaccurate results, the app will either say, inaccurate, moderate or accurate so that you know how accurate the results are you are reading. By one week you should be getting fairly accurate results.
Also, since it uses averages, the time left that it displays is definitely an estimate and is not perfect. There have been many complaints in the market that this app is not close at all to determining the amount of time left. Because of how it works it estimates the amount of use left based on your normal use habits of the phone. If you use your phone one day significantly more than your normal use patter sit will throw off the results for that day.
But do not get discouraged because it's an estimated guess on how much time is left because the developer of this app is great and constantly making improvements on a weekly basis. In the latest release to help give more accurate results the "Battery Left Widget" is now taking into account mV% readings which are giving it even more accurate results one you go from a full charge to a drained battery. With every improvement of this app the results become more and more accurate.
Furthermore for all those with custom themes from metamorph or custom roms, there is a decent deal of customization for colors and gradient changes for this app making it able to fit in on anyones home screen. Also there are two widgets; a a 1x1 and a 2x1 which allows you to have it the size of one normal icon on the home screen or the width of two which allows you to place it in the middle of a home screen.
Lastly "Battery Left Widget" is a must have app for anyone with a Seidio extended battery for the Droid. Anyone who has this battery will know that it is not calibrated with the built in battery meter, so you never know your true battery level. With "Battery Left Widget" someone using the Seidio extended battery will have accurate results showing them how much power they have left.
A fun game I try and play with this widget is to see how high I can get my numbers, based on different kernels and roms etc. Also a good way to extend your battery life is with Juice Defender, which you can check out here.
