The Battle of the Sick

Ariana R. Cherry-Shearer
Laying ill in bed,
is not the way I would like to spend this day.
I'd rather be outside, so that I can frolic and play.

With my head throbbing
and body burrowed under the covers
This fine sunshine day, is what this "sick" is robbing.

My nose is going from clogged to dripping,
My trash bag is so full of Kleenex
and now its ripping.

I lay in my warm cozy bed,
with nothing but dread.
I began to plan my route of action
To knock this sick down and make it dead.

First I try drowning it out with hot herbal tea,
At least its making me feel somewhat like me.
Then I chug down the powerful mighty Vitamin C

After a hot steamy shower,
I try to breathe through my clogged up nose.
The "sick" begins to somewhat cower

A little bit of Aspirin
begins to make my head feel more like a ten.

Once I head outdoors for some fine fresh air,
Finally again, I feel like I could care...

This sick can now began to escape from my body...
No way, any longer, am I letting it take its residence
inside of me.
