The BCS Championship Game: Did it Prove Anything? Mama Thinks Not

We'll make this short and sweet. Pure and simple, the dynamic duo of Les Miles and Gary Crowten were just too much for the Buckeyes. The combination of Miles' smash-mouth football and the magic of Gary Crowten's spread offense were fun to watch, but really didn't make for a true championship game.

Ohio State started psyching themselves way too soon. Mama thinks they were pumped up 2 hours before the game and peaked in the first quarter. That adrenalin rush always results in a let-down, and it happened too soon for Ohio State. They may have stayed out of trouble by staying close to the hotel, but the need to stay loose was lost too. And the first scores made it interesting...for awhile. Make no mistake: they are a good football team and we'll see them in the hunt next year.

So: Is LSU the "best in the country"? Mama says NO!! They are the best in a series for SEC vs. Big 10, but you just can't leave out the Pac 10 and the others. USC could beat either team any day. And Mama would love to see a match up of Oregon vs.LSU. Remember that Gary Crowten left Oregon to coach at LSU. Thank goodness he recommended Chip Kelly for his replacement.

Bottom line, there are lots of teams who don't believe this proves anything at all...season was just too wacky.

Worse, it never had the feel of a bowl game, unless you were in New Orleans, maybe. Monday night, holiday hangover, football saturated, and our family ordered take-out Chinese food! Mama enjoyed the two kickers at half time as much as anything. Ho-Hum...Played with the baby most of the second half.

Let's look to next year, and hopefully a real championship.
