College football- BCS
Positives- There is no doubt that the BCS makes every single game count during the season. There simply is no room for a letdown, even if you may be the most talented team at the end of the day. The match ups in the bowl games have typically been pretty good match ups with the BCS system in place as well, with quite a few close games and good story lines.
Negatives- There is obviously no tournament here. The single largest negative can be argued, but it has to be either that politics tend to sway who plays in the title game or the fact that computers have so much say in determining the game. Ironically, there are strong arguments against both, since humans tend to be unable to be impartial and computers can come up with some very screwy results.
College basketball- March Madness
Positives- An absolutely awesome finish to the season with March Madness and the NCAA Tournament. I don't think any other sport can match what the NCAA Tournament brings. The one and done scenario in the tournament leads to some of the best basketball games one will ever see, with college kids laying it all on the line.
Negatives- Individual regular season games mean less in this scenario. This allows teams that are great to have a huge letdown and yet still win the Championship.
The stronger system overall?
In my book the edge goes to college basketball. I understand that every single game in the regular season doesn't count quite as much, but I also love that the kids get to play in a one and done tournament for all the marbles. Which sport do you believe has the stronger system in place?

Post a CommentI think that that March Madness is a lot better than the bowl games because of one reason. Jeff thinks that it is better but i disagree. its way better
March Madness is way better because Luke says so.
I am not much of a basketball fan but I will take March Madness ( I do live in NC) over the BS, er BCS anyday.
I love my college football, and the last few years have been whirlwinds with BCS clusters galore. But, I think basketball has the better system. I don't really watch any basketball until March, and to watch those kids leave it all out there is exciting.
