The Beauty of Diversity on AC

Dr. Jamie Yvette
One of the things I love most about Associated Content is the freedom that it offers me to explore different sides of my "writer self." Not all mediums for writers offer this kind of flexibility. As one who enjoys writing everything from poetry and short stories to opinion pieces and general articles, I appreciate the fact that no matter what my writing mood is on any given day, I have the liberty of going with the natural flow of creativity that is taking place inside of my soul.

We all come to AC with different backgrounds, education levels and world views. We also come here with our own personal agendas, though that term may come off a bit strong. Some people write for AC to earn a living or supplement their income. Some use this site as a networking tool and/or a means to develop their writing portfolios. Some people desire to hone their craft while gaining a little exposure, while others may actually use it to support a political or social cause, or work through a personal crisis (most of us who write know that it can be very therapeutic). The reasons why we are here probably vary from one writer to the next, but I think that is what adds to the beauty of this experience.

It is important that we as writers continue to appreciate and embrace the diversity that makes this site so spectacular. I learn as much from novice writers as I do from those who have countless books and articles published and years of experience under their belt. I am as touched by the personal accounts of individuals who write about hardships they have faced as I am a well-written piece of fiction. I admire those who lash out at social injustice and strive to make this world a better place by first shedding light on the issues and then making intelligent recommendations for reform. At the same time, I can appreciate a good sense of humor and love to read articles that make me laugh.

AC is wonderful because it gives us all the chance to express our uniqueness as writers and feel free to be ourselves!

I really enjoyed this article, and if you read my PM, you already know how I feel about diversity, be it through images; content; and especially news. It's improving on AC, but it's still not totally there yet. However, this was a good write-up!

Oops meant to say that have been both supportive and encouraging. Also, no matter where our writing careers take us we will always remember AC and the beauty of its diversity.

Great article Dr. Jamie. I have written on other sites but none compare to AC in the freedom of creativity. The thing I love the most is the instant feedback good or bad it helps me to grow as a writer. I also appreciate the writers like yourself that I have met that have both supportive and encouraging. No matter where our writing careers take us we will have always remember AC and the beauty of its diversity.

So true, so true. I always felt my hands tied to a genre prior to AC since I didn't always "feel" like writing that genre that day. Very well said. And we are glad you have the chance to roam free creativly, as it affords us the chance to read the fruits of your labors.

I agree. It is so fascinating to read so many different genres of writing and see viewpoints from writers all over the world.
