"Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! 'For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?' 'Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?' For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen."
Have you ever been awestruck by the knowledge of the Lord? Have you ever been so swept away by the fantastic beauty of creation that it riddles your mind? Have you ever been so moved by the wonder of the Lord that you know no other way to express yourself than worship of His glorious name?
Did you know that a hummingbird, a tiny little animal that can fit in the palm of your hand, beats its wings up to 80 times per second? Did you also know that this tiny bird consumes more than its body weight in nectar each day to survive, and that at any given moment it is only hours away from starving? Or what about the internet, this website I am using right now, and how many trillions of bytes that a mainframe must process in order to correctly punctuate and calculate the buttons to type and publish this article? God and his creation are extravagantly majestic and infinitely wonderful.
It is so astounding that we, the most intricate of God's creation, forget about the glory and majesty of our Creator on a day to day basis. We love to be impressed by magnificent structures, but we fail to realize the magnificence of the brilliant mind behind the creation. Everything is created for the glory and pleasure of the Lord, and we must be reminded of this daily. The intricacies of this world bubble with worship to the one who created them; shouldn't we, the most intricate of all creation, scream this worship all the more? In fact, we were created to worship and enjoy Him forevermore!
I am constantly reminded that the mark of the Creator is in every little detail that I perceive. His essence, his personality, his love for his creation is imprinted on each cell of our lives. Our sinful nature destroys true worship with the Father; it is only because of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross that we are able to approach the Father, the glorious creator of all things. Jesus is the true firstborn of all creation. As Colossians 1:16-17 exclaims, "For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
Praise Jesus for his glorious redemption of those whom the Father gave him. He is the one worthy of our worship and praise because he has ransomed, reconciled and redeemed us to the Father. It is through his atoning sacrifice that we can truly enjoy the marvelous beauty of his creation, and as you are floored again and again by his glory, give him the praise he so rightly deserves.
Soli Deo Gloria

Post a CommentAwesome thoughts! Makes me think of Psalm 19.
I needed this reminder today. Your words brought me much joy!
Already knew about the hummingbird....very interesting stuff....
Great job, Thomas. Thanks for sharing. God's creation is an amazing thing!
you remind me of the mystic John of the Cross (good friends with my patron saint, St. Theresa of Avila); good parable, Thomas.
Pt. 2 (opps, I get a little windy at times!) Published by Probability Research In Molecular Biology, Northridge, CA 91321 (p. 77). That proves beyond a shadow of doubt that there is intelligence by design, no doubt about it! Nice work friend. You're so very, very good. : - )
Friend, the complexity of life itself is strong evidence for intelligence behind its creation. After studying the complexity of a protein molecule, Dr. Harold Morowitz made the conclusion that the probability of life occurring by chance is 1/10236. [6] The odds are so hard to get your mind around that 1/10236 takes into account all the atoms in the universe, and the chance that every one of these, and at just the right time and just the right ones came together, they just might form one single protein molecule. And one protein molecule of itself is dead unless another is formed quickly. Once you get to 1/1015, the probability of an event ever happening is negligible. This is what Dr. Morowitz is saying. If you get to 1/1050, the event could not have happened even once in 15 billion-years. *Coppedge, Dr. James F. Lovely thoughts.
Beautiful article!

I love your example of the humming bird. I just hope that man will not destroy all the beauty in this world.
