Exercise is frequently associated with losing weight, or burning calories. But there is more to exercise than just being a good method to weight reduction. Exercise can spell a huge difference in the health condition of the body.
Studies have proven that consistent exercise can help reduce the chances of heart diseases. It makes the heart healthier, stronger, and resistant to ailments.
One exercise that helps strengthen the heart is aerobics. Since you breathe heavily with aerobics and the heart tends to pump some more, aerobics enable the heart to pump blood efficiently in the body. The stronger the heart, the more easily it can pump blood throughout the system.
You will know an aerobic exercise for the following characteristics: (1) limbs are moving at the same time; (2) use of larger muscle groups. It is recommended that you do aerobics for about 20-40 minutes but not to exceed 45 minutes. Aerobic exercise should be able to cause your heart and lungs to work harder to strengthen them. Most of the aerobic exercises are repetitive.
Exercises are also beneficial for muscle strength and endurance. Bodybuilding or strength or resistance training is necessary to increase muscle strength and endurance. It can strengthen the bones to prevent bone diseases such as osteoporosis. Some of the basic and best exercises for bones are the following: jogging, hiking, brisk walking, weight lifting, climbing the stairs, and playing tennis among others.
Stretching is also one form of exercise that has many benefits. It enhances one's capability to move joints easily and effectively. It is also an integral component in reducing risk associated with injury. Body and joint movements are more difficult without flexibility.
An important aspect but oftentimes neglected is the exercise of the mind. You can exercise the mind along with your body, let's say when you do a treadmill run, you may want to simultaneously read a book. There are other forms of mind exercises- like doing puzzles, solving a problem, etc. The basic exercise of the mind is to think critically.
In doing all the basic exercises, there's one factor that you also shouldn't miss, and that is rest. Even if you are too enthusiastic to see the results that make you tend to intensify your exercises, don't leave out rest. It is just as equally important as the exercise itself. Give your body the time to recover from the routine. Are you aware that it is during this rest period that all good things and benefits of exercise come to life?
Lastly, you have to make sure that you are engaged in safe exercises. The best way to assure safety is to get a doctor's clearance that may set the limitations for you or recommend the best exercise program. Better be safe.
