French door refrigerators side-by-side doors that open from the center on top with a freezer unit at the bottom. The bottom freezer is either accessed through a door or is a drawer that can be pulled out from the fridge. The double doors on the top of the unit to access the refrigerator provide several key benefits.
First, because both door open to the same space the storage area is wide which makes it easy to store large platters of food, pizzas or other food items that tend to be difficult to store in a traditional side-by-side fridge. Both doors of the fridge offer storage racks which also increase the amount of door storage offered by these models. Finally, most people use their fridges more often than their freezers and having the refrigerator on top and the freezer on the bottom means less bending and stooping to see what's inside.
French door refrigerators range greatly in price based upon the brand and features that they offer, however, they tend to be more expensive than other styles of fridges. As with any large appliance, though, a fridge is going to be around for a long time and it may be worth it to spend a little extra and get the convenience and benefits that this style of fridge has to offer.
There are many optional features that you can find in French door refrigerators such as water and ice dispensers in the door, doors that close automatically, pull out freezer drawers and other features that make the fridge more functional and easy to use. The price of the refrigerator will depend greatly upon the extra features that it offers since more features usually mean more money.
The higher cost of French door refrigerators is easily offset by the convenience, additional storage space and ease of use that they offer. Not only that, but they are a stylish choice and are available in all the latest finishes to beautifully accent your modern kitchen design.

Post a CommentI find the idea not practical for someone who isn't a cook. I dislike having to open not one but two doors to open my fridge to browse when my item once found may be on only one side. Waste of energy. Also, I don't like the idea of looking and bending slightly down to sort through anything, which is what must be done in the freezer. It doesn't matter how often you visit it. Having food buried under other food is not appealing. A non cook probably uses the freezer more with all those ready made meals.
