So you did it, you started working out and you love doing your videos every morning like it's your second job, great, you may be ready to step it up a notch and take some live classes! Weather you have a lot of experience with workouts and fitness, or if you are just getting started, you should seriously consider taking group exercise classes, the benefits of working out in a group setting are incredible, and can make you more fit than you ever thought possible!
You Push Harder
If you are in a room full of people and you are all doing the same thing, it's easy to tell when someone is slacking, and let's face it you know this too! When you are smack dab in the middle of a group of people you try harder than you would on your own, and the extra push that you find yourself putting in to an exercise is going to translate directly into a higher calorie burn. You can't deny that getting more burn out of exercise would be nice; it may be one of the biggest motivators for getting start with group fitness
Motivation and Accountability
Just like with any group of people when you find that you are seeing the same people every single week you start to look forward to getting to catch up! Many people are shocked to find that a group exercise class isn't just a class, you become a family, and who are the people that we tend to feel the most accountable to, our family. You wouldn't want to tell your mother or father about how often you are going to workout, only to have to come back in two weeks and tell them about how you stopped. In the same way a class and teacher will notice when you are missing and will ask you about it, and since you don't want to have to make up excuses, you will tend to just try and make it the first time, they help make you accountable.
Try New Things
Nothing is worse than having a workout that becomes some boring and repetitive that you start to dread doing it. As a fitness instructor for a group class, I can tell you that part of our job is to make sure that classes stay fun and exciting, and we often try to incorporate new things into classes so that our attendance stays up, and people in our class want to come back every week. In a similar way you will find that some classes offered in a group format are very new or things that you probably can't do at home by yourself, such as spinning, kettle bell group, or other group workouts!
No matter what your physical fitness level is consider group exercise classes, the results and effects of working out in a group setting are undeniable and amazing. If you want to look great, feel great, and make new friends in the process, go to your local gym and check out what classes they have to offer, there is sure to be something you will love.
