You will always have a working computer.
Of course, this means that you will also have at least three computers in your house. But, most, if not all of these computers, will work all the time. You will never miss an e-mail or wonder what is going on in the world and not be able to find out. Not only will these computers work, but chances are they will be current or near-current technology. No slow, old clunkers will fill the home of a true computer geek. Each computer will be replaced, part by part, every so often. After a year or so, each computer has had a major over haul and is, in fact, an entirely new, up to date computer.
You will not have to worry about pesky computer viruses.
True computer geeks have firewalls, both hardware and software, that will keep your computers virtually virus free. If something does manage to squeeze through, the computer geek will take immediate action to eradicate it, so nothing troublesome will haunt your PC or laptop for long. Keeping anti-virus software current is a priority for computer geeks and is not something that a true geek will ignore. Of course, this means that you may have to wait an extra moment or two while your computer downloads automatic anti-virus software updates, but that is not a problem when you are on one of the super fast computers that most computer geeks have.
You will know where your husband is spending his evenings.
Computer geek husbands spend their nights and evenings at home. They are often gamers who can spend hours lost in the world of the game of the moment. When they are not gaming, they are scouring the internet looking for good deals on the new video card they would like to get to update one of their computers. Usually it's something that is a must-have for serious gamers.
Your kids will have a technology edge over their peers.
Computer geeks teach their children the ins and outs of computer use at an early age. Educational games are a benefit, when used in moderation. For kids that are technology minded themselves, time with dad playing computer games or building a kid's computer is great bonding time.
You can discover the fun of computer games through your husband.
There are lots of women gamers out there, some more serious than others. Many of them are the wives or girlfriends of serious gamers. Building your own character in Guild Wars or some other roll playing game is fun and can be empowering. Playing the same game your husband is into is a great way to bond with your husband.
When you are wondering why computers and all their extra parts are taking over your storage space, or why you need three computer desks in your house, remember the benefits to having a computer geek for a husband.

Post a CommentI recently married a computer nerd and i understand what unhappily married is saying. Having a nice night just chilling never happens because all he wants to do is play games and have LANs which are really irritating for me. There is a definite lack of communication and when i try to broach the subject, i am accused of trying to change him. Am at the end of my rope and i don't know how much more i can take :(
forgot to mention: forget about great sex, forget about affection, forget about great communication. they will never understand you, they lack people and social skills, they just don't get it.
i married a computer geek, and i am sad to say i am not happily married. forget about having a social life with your friends and husband included, forget about your kids being good at sports, because your sports challenged husband will never want to practice with them, forget about outdoor adventures, forget about having someone to talk about deep stuff wifth, forget about having someone to grow with - ps: i used to be a geek myself, but grown out of it - very sad :-(
My hubby will feel so validated when I show your article to him! Thanks!
I married a computer geek! I love this article!
well, it seems that comment didn't go through for some reason. :( I was saying that I love this article! My husband certainly fits into this category! and I love your "You will know where your husband is spending his evenings" point. How true! And honestly, how comforting!
You know, Corey does network administration for the military, and he's clueless with our computers half the time! Maybe your husband needs to come over and geekify him more?? lol. But some of these are true of Corey. :)
Cute article!
