The Benefits of Having a Large Hat at Work

I know most people do not wear big hats at work, most people wear a baseball cap. I used to wear only baseball caps, but I have found out that a large hat is better.

It is not about fashion, it is about a good hat. I have found it easier to work in the sun, rain, cold and wind.

When it the sun is burning bright, and it is hot on the job site, a good large shady hat makes you more comfortable. The larger cover over your head keeps the sun off your face, which also makes you cooler. Being cooler allows your body to keep more water, and also allows you to work better.

Some people will say they do not work in the rain, but I have had to on many occasions. Lets say It rains, and there are power tools all over the job site. With that large hat I can run and gather the tools easier. The hat allows me to tilt it into the rain, and block the down fall from my face. I also can put something under that hat, to help keep the water off of it.

Even though a larger hat is cooler in the hot sun, it can be warmer on a cold day. When the wind blows, you can tilt that hat into it and block a lot of that direct wind. The covering over your head also can help keep you warm.

There are some other things that can be done with a large hat. You can use it to help you crawl under uncomfortable places. What I am referring to is crawling under a sticky bush to trim it. I have used my hat to allow myself to get under the prickly bush to trim limbs off. With out the hat, the bush would poke me in the face with sharp leaves.

The bigger hat is more useful then something like a cap, and it is a lot better than having no hat at all. Having a cap is better than no hat, but the bigger hats have more coverage, making them more useful.

Certain companies require certain kinds of dress codes, but when I am allowed to wear a bigger hat, that is my choice. It is a blessing to be allowed to wear a hat at all, so if I had to wear a cap, then I would be glad to put it on, instead of wearing nothing at all.
