The Benefits of Hiring a Resume Writer

Susan J.
So you've been searching for a new job for two months straight, you've emailed your resume to every firm in town but you still have yet to receive a phone call for an interview. You know you're a great candidate. You've done your homework. You've had friends proof your resume and it is flawless. So how come your phone isn't ringing off the hook?

In this new age of electronic job hunting, many ideal candidates are inadvertently getting overlooked. Despite years of schooling and working for top companies, your resume just isn't getting the attention you expected. It's beginning to wear on your confidence. How do you get noticed?

The new age job search boils down to keywords. You may shine in person and on paper, but if your resume does not include the proper keywords, chances are, your resume may never be seen by human eyes. These days, a computer handles the hundreds of electronic resumes submitted for each job opening. The ones that match certain keywords get forwarded to HR personnel. Resumes lacking proper keywords languish forever in a database, never to be seen or heard from again. Unfortunately, this is what happens to the majority of resumes.

You could spend the next six months studying the intricacies of keyword algorithms, attempting to discover exactly what your resume is lacking. Still, you may find your efforts misguided. Why leave it up to chance any longer than necessary when a couple hundred dollars could land you your dream job?

That's right - for a few hundred dollars, you could hire a professional resume writer. There are a number of great resume writing companies advertising their services on the Internet. A simple search will yield many companies to choose from. Most of these firms will assign a professional resume writer to review your resume and rewrite it for you. The best firms match you up with a professional familiar with your field of work. Some of the companies even offer a money-back guarantee. For example, ResumeWriters.com offers a 100% money-back guarantee if you do not receive an interview within 30 days of your acceptance of your professionally rewritten resume.

Let me tell you about my personal experience. For a little background, I am a technical writer, so I did not believe I would ever need the services of a professional resume writer. I'm a writer, so I should be able to write my own resume, right? Wrong! After many months of submitting my resume all over town and not receiving any callbacks, I finally decided that the problem was my resume. I decided to hire a professional resume writer from ResumeWriters.com. After filling out a brief questionnaire and uploading my current resume, I received an email from the professional resume writer assigned to me. She was very polite and asked several further questions and then got right down to business. Within three days, she sent me an electronic version of my rewritten resume. I spent the weekend scrutinizing the differences between what my old resume contained and what the new one contained.

Although the differences seemed subtle, I was very pleased with the work she had done. In addition to some subtle changes, she had come up with a new way of formatting all my contractor expertise in an eye-catching manner. Everything on the resume was me, only better, more manicured. After the weekend had passed, I was ready to put the new resume to the test and began sending it out.

What happened next was better than I could have hoped for. True to their guarantee, I received three phone calls in one day from companies requesting interviews with me. I was floored. The 30 days weren't even up yet. My phone continued to ring after that, too.

In the end, I was glad I swallowed my pride and hired someone to rewrite my resume. Spending a couple hundred dollars to have someone else rewrite my resume has turned into some of the best money I've ever spent. I went from having no phone calls to receiving multiple interviews in the span of a month. It's allowed to have my pick of companies and choose the one that will best advance my career.

So if you're facing the troubles I've had and you are getting frustrated with the job search process, perhaps you should consider hiring a professional resume writer. Odds are, it will be worth every penny.

  • Electronic resumes need the right keywords.
  • Hiring a professional will increase your chances of your resume being seen.
  • Professional resume writers know what companies are looking for.

i hired a lady named debbie at fish bowl resumes (www.fishbowlresume.com). she asked good questions and had a questionnaire- it didnt ask my work history so much (there was a section for that, though if you didnt have a resume at all) as much as tried to get at the skills i was overlooking on my resume. my husband was so impressed he got one as well. her rates were also affordable for our budget. i dont know how to do a link on here but if you google the name fishbowl resumes im sure it will come up.

I also used resumewriters.com and was THRILLED with me new resume! i was very leery at first- especially spending (what is for me) a lot of money. It was so worth it! The biggest problem my resume had was the format and how it looked, the writer also had a section at the top which really highlighted all my skills and abilities and made them stand out! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who was pleased with their resume!
