Hypnosis has been described as focused attention, deep relaxation, or an altered state of consciousness. These terms basically are interchangeable. The sensations felt during hypnosis are described by most people as very relaxing, refreshing, and pleasant. The effectiveness of hypnosis is affected by several factors. One of the most important is the persons desire to create the changes. Without a sincere desire to make the changes, the changes will not occur.
Misconceptions regarding hypnosis that a person carries with them, even on a hidden or subconscious level, can effect hypnosis will have on them. Common misconceptions are often the result of the way hypnosis is depicted in books, on television, or in the movies. More recently, the abundance of web sites promoting "hypnosis for seduction" and methods to "hypnotize anyone without their knowing" have advanced these misconceptions.
During the process of hypnosis, a person does not lose control of themselves in any way. They cannot be forced to do anything they would not do normally, revel any information they would not normally revel. During the process of hypnosis, you are aware of the process that is taking place, and where you are. You can open your eyes at anytime you desire; respond to any emergency that may arise.
What hypnosis does is open the pathways to the subconscious through focused attention and or deep relaxation, making it much easier for suggestion to enter the subconscious mind and establish itself. Hypnosis is a completely natural condition. You have already experienced it naturally. We have all been engrossed in a book, movie, or television program where we simply became "lost" in it. So immersed it that all other things outside of that activity were oblivious to us. We have all been lost in a daydream, unaware of anything outside of the daydream. Those are hypnotic periods that occurred naturally. The only thing missing was the suggestions associated with the modification desired.
The benefits of hypnosis are far-reaching and available to all that desire change. From pain management to building confidence, hypnosis can help you effect the change you desire in a highly effective, natural, and safe way.
