I've been using myself as a test subject for over a year now. I have been testing the benefits of making a gratitude journal. I've been keeping track of the things that I'm grateful for on a daily basis. Over a year's time, I've managed to have a 103 page gratitude journal that grows daily.
Attitude Of Gratitude
I've been able to develop an attitude of gratitude to approach life with. I find that I'm less stressed and can deal with life a whole lot better than I used to. I no longer approach life with a mindset of lack or need. I see each day as something to be grateful for. Every breath is something to be grateful for.
Better Concentration
Not only do I have a better attitude but, it seems that my concentration is better too. I'm able to stay more focused on what I'm doing and get more done. This in turn improves my self-esteem and self-image. All in all, I would say that gratitude is a way to a more abundant life.
Daily Gratitude
If you want to live every single day of your life with joy, you should make gratitude a part of your daily rituals.
This is what I do, I keep a gratitude journal on my computer. I start each day by listing the date; then, I list all of the things that I'm grateful for, for that day. I start each sentence with," I'm grateful." It doesn't matter if what I list are the same things as I listed the day before; it just matters that I acknowledge them each day.
Gratitude Habit
Usually my gratitude list grows every day but, it depends on how tired I am by the time I get around to doing it every day. You can look at this like anything else in life and you can make it a habit. Now, if you had a habit of living every single day of your life with gratitude in your heart; you would turn into a wealthy individual almost overnight. I'm not talking wealth in a monetary sense, I'm talking wealth in what you have and your abilities; the things that you can do.
Purpose
See, it's my belief that we're put here on this planet for the purpose of learning and growing as individuals. If we're always working on ourselves and not worrying about things; then we are making the world a better place for ourselves, and everyone around us.
Focus
By living in gratitude, we are focused on solutions; not problems. I don't know about you; but, I'd rather focus on solutions. It makes life a lot more enjoyable.
Affirmations
By being grateful, you're also affirming what you know to be true. So, when used in conjunction with affirmations; you're giving yourself the evidence that you need in order to have a beneficial belief.
Conscious Mind
Since your conscious mind; is always needing evidence for the beliefs you want it to have; through your gratitude journal, you can go ahead and give it what it needs. It's a lot easier to be grateful for what you have, than it is to try to convince yourself of things that you know deep down inside yourself aren't true.
Changing
When affirmations are used in conjunction with a gratitude journal, the effects are life changing. You start to see yourself in a different light. You, ever so slowly become a person of confidence and deep conviction.
Self Confidence
You know you are and no one can convince you otherwise because you have the evidence to prove it to yourself. You're no longer affected by others who only seek to put you down so that they can feel better about themselves, all of that rolls off your shoulder and you develop a thick skin of self confidence that cannot be broken.
Solution
This helps you in more ways than one. It gives you the confidence that you need to go out and face the challenges of life on a daily basis. You see, for every problem; there is a solution. Let me repeat that; for every problem, there is a solution. It's just a matter of hard work and perseverance to find the solution to any problem.
Now, this takes us back to the gratitude journal. The gratitude journal boosts your confidence, both, in yourself and in the real world. The gratitude journal brings you back to reality and lets you know that there's goodness in the real world as well as the dream world.
From Dream To Reality
The gratitude journal is what makes it possible to bring the ideas from the dream world and make them a reality by bringing them into the outer world.
