Music is considered to be the best discovery of man. It is one of the highest forms of expression and catharsis. Throughout time, music has taken on different forms, and songs have been written from almost every emotion known to man. It captures the heart of man from all walks of life and from all ages-from kids to adults.

Music has a lot of benefits for every one of us. For adults, it serves as an outlet for emotions and feelings that they encounter everyday. Kids, too, can enjoy the benefit of music. This applies not only to children who are a genius when it comes to music, but to all kids in general. Here are some of the benefits that children can get from music.

1. The left side of the brain, which is responsible for the processing of language, is developed when a child is involved in music and playing musical instruments. It also nurtures the child's spatial intelligence, which is responsible for identifying things that may come together and also for math problems.

2. Creativity is developed with music. Children learn how to think in many ways and not just search for one concrete answer. Critical-thinking is also nurtured when children are involved in music. Studies show that kids who are involved in music developed special academic skills and excelled more in high school achievement tests compared to those who are not in any way involved in music.

3. Music allows a child to discover the cultures of the world. It allows them to understand the people of the world and their cultures. It serves as training for them to be exposed to different people from around the world.

4. Music develops the craftsman in kids. It helps them to develop the skill of mastery in learning how to play an instrument. It also helps the children learn that hard work and perseverance is what it takes to reach excellence.

5. The value of teamwork is also another benefit that a child can get from music. Learning how to play an instrument with others in a group will help him understand the importance of listening to others and working with them.

6. Music enhances self-expression. They are able to show their talents and conquer their fears and embarrassments, and share what they have with others. It also allows them to actively participate and use their minds creatively rather than just sit and listen to someone.

Music and education, when joined together, can do a lot more for us than we can imagine. Especially with kids, it becomes a foundation for a better growth and a development of their holistic senses.
