The Benefits of Playing Scrabble on Facebook

The game of Scrabble has an official Facebook application which allows users to play Scrabble online. This application allows users to connect with friends as well as honing their Scrabble skills with strangers.

There are two options for games in Facebook's Scrabble application: public or private. With a private game, you choose which of your friends to invite (up to three). With a public game, you choose how many opponents you would like, and the game is added to a list of open games. Other players can search public games and join in. adparams.getadspec('c_billboard1');

There are many benefits to playing Scrabble online like this, both with your friends and with strangers. The first is that you can play as slowly or as quickly as you want. There is an option, when starting a public game, to request a slow or fast game, so opponents know how soon they will be expected to play. You can finish a game in a few hours, or over the course of many days. You can also carry on multiple games at the same time, so even if you are playing in several slow games you will never get bored.

Scrabble is a good game to play to connect with friends over Facebook. There is even a chat box within the game so you can talk to them while you play. If you're trying to hone your skills or get a bigger challenge, you can start a public game and play with strangers. You can even specify how good you would like your opponent to be when starting a public game, just so you don't end up with too difficult an opponent to beat. The application keeps statistics of wins and losses, so you can keep track of your own progress on your way to becoming a Scrabble champ.

There are a few drawbacks to the application. First, there are separate versions for the United States and the rest of the world. This means that you may not be able to play Scrabble with international friends. The score calculations and dictionary can also cause problems. The game occasionally rejects real words, instead of letting players put down words that aren't in the Scrabble dictionary and requiring other players to challenge them. In addition, the application counts a letter shared between two words twice instead of just once, as outlined in the official rules. Still, Scrabble is a fun Facebook application which takes a lot more thought to play than other Facebook games.
