The Benefits of Stretching

Rik Rodriguez
The benefits of stretching are many, but I believe it is the single most beneficial thing you can do for your over all health everyday. By increasing your range of motion you are bound to have less injuries. Your circulation will certainly be better, you could become more coordinated. Your ability to focus may increase because of more oxygen to the tissues. I find that I have better balance if I stretch 5 minutes a day. I seem to be faster and my thinking is clearer. The old martial artist that you see stretching in movies were not just doing it to show off. Before you walk or even moderate physical activity its good to stretch to warm up your muscles. Also after you do physical exercise it can also be a great idea to stretch to cool off the muscles. Stretching can increase blood flow to your muscles. Increasing blood flow to your muscles brings oxygen to the tissues and gets rid of waste by-products in the muscle tissue. Its a great stress reliever because you can normally combine stretching with breathing exercises.

Learning to stretch and breath properly is simple and will make you feel so much better. I like to start stretching by sitting on the floor and I begin by gently moving my foot in a circular motion one way then the other. It has always been important to me to focus on something pleasant when I stretch and try to relax. Good posture and rhythmic breathing can help you feel much healthier. Our muscles and organs need good blood flow and oxygen to function properly.

Learning to breath is important most people think they already know how to breath. If you are winded easily or you cannot hold your breath for at least one minute, you will benefit from learning to control your breathing. Many of us understand the role breathing plays in keeping our bodies and our minds healthy.

You can find many different methods of stretching published online. You will also find that many instructors will state only certain ways of stretching. If you watch your pets you may begin to realize that stretching is a natural thing that they do everyday. Its also is something that most of us do to some extent everyday. But stretching can be developed into a habit that will continue to give you many rewards. Dont take my word for it. Stretching is probably easiest thing you can do for your health and one of the most beneficial.
