Reduce Triglycerides Naturally with Vitamin E

The benefits of Vitamin E are many, however reducing high triglycerides naturally seems to be what the focus is about it as written by Jen Storch in the June 2011 issue of Life Extension. These pesky free floating blood fats are found in many corners of our internal organs from head to toe and there are many people that find themselves in the clutches of them when they have their regular blood work done.

Metabolic Syndrome

In a study done in Singapore back in 2002, it was revealed that a striking 40% of those adults that are above the age of 60 are in the clutches of a condition called Metabolic Syndrome. With this health issue comes a myriad of problems that involve high levels of triglycerides, along with other physical characteristics that include abdominal obesity, compromised glucose control.Cell cultures from this study revealed that the gamma and delta portions of vitamin E, assisted in the suppression of expressions in specific genes that aided in the formation of lipids.

The portion of this study that involved humans showed that those taking 120 mgs of a particular component of vitamin E referred to as gamma-delta-tocotrienol decreased their triglyceride levels by 28%. This aspect of vitamin E also appeared to suppress levels of chylomicrons. These are lipoproteins that are recognized for carrying fats from your intestines to the liver.

More Confirmation

Abundant sources of other data that support these findings are prevelant too. Tocotrienols (vitamin E) derived from palm oil, markedly reduced levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL levels in diabetic rats as stated in the Life Extension Article. This along with creating higher levels of HDL, the "good" cholesterol that helps to reduce the bad cholesterol was included in these findings.

Another interesting aspect of these studies included evidence that showed the supplementation of Vitamin E on the diabetic rats created lower blood sugar levels which will directly contribute lower triglycerides in a positive way.

Along with other benefits of Vitamin E that include anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer qualities, reducing triglycerides naturally with Vitamin E will be helpful for those that are confronting the pre-diabetic conditions that involve high triglycerides along with other health issues like heart disease that are related to triglycerides that have become elevated.
