Many of the folks interviewed may comparable experience, talents and education. Details can get lost in the mix. A thank you letter is a great way to recap the interview details, remind an employer about your strengths, skills and experience.
2) Follow Up Facts
Interviews sometimes become so involved and unless you have a personal assistant present during the interview you may forget an important fact or point you wanted to make. A thank you letter affords the interviewee an opportunity to keep the line of communication open and offer more information about how he or she is perfect fit for the company. Letters can include attachments and even additional examples of how the interviewee would be a value-adding member to the company's staff.
3) Damage Control and Deal Clincher
Just like relationships, there are things that we may say in an interview that may have been awkward or confusing. A follow-up communication, in the form of a thank you letter, is a great opportunity to clarify things stated in your interview or offer examples that you may not have remembers during the interview.
4) The Great Communicator
Smiles and nice suits are not enough for most employers. Companies look for well rounded people to work for them. Skills such as multi-tasking and organization are just as important as punctuality and professionalism. A thank you letter can provide a potential employer proof of several things. The letter serves as a demonstration of your communication skills. Your thank you letter also proves that you are a courteous, conscientious and respectful person. Depending on how well your letter is written, it may also prove that you give attention to details and are a good listening.
5) Personality Plus
Employers enjoy meeting people who are confident, proactive, and motivated. These are the types of folks they are more likely to hire. An interview may not be enough of an opportunity for an interviewee to prove their interest, motivations, dedication or self-confidence. In these instances, a thank you letter helps immensely. A thank you letter goes beyond showing courtesy and sound business etiquette. It is your way of being proactive and showing confidence in yourself and your credentials. The letter may be your last chance to prove that you are the perfect candidate for a job and sending a letter shows initiative and deep interest in the employer and employment.

Post a CommentPlease keep it brief! A summary of the interview and everything you liked about it is not apt to help - but a courteous and brief note thanking people for the opportunity to interview is entirely appropriate and may help - least-wise when I was doing the hiring.
