When I heard that The Bento Box was opening, I made a mental note to stop by for lunch. I was expecting more of a fanfare, but it opened very quietly about a month or so ago. Located at 2246 West Armitage in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood, I like the fact that they change the menu weekly. We went there for lunch and I was intrigued by how the food was presented, because I had never eaten food from one of these bento boxes before. I ordered the Spicy Beef Bulgagi Bento Box with the Jasmine Rice and Kim Chi, which cost thirteen dollars.

The owners of the restaurant were extremely nice and the atmosphere was small and cozy. They only have about twelve seats in the place, but it was still open enough not to get claustrophobia. My co-worker ordered the Fried Jidori Chicken with Spicy Potato Salad served with Japanese BBQ Sauce, which was also reasonably priced at thirteen dollars. The food was presented very artistically and colorfully, which also added to my delight. We drove past the place a couple times before we found it, because we didn't see any prominent outdoor signage, only the words, "The Bento Box" painted on the front of the window, albeit in bold red lettering. I really enjoyed my lunch there, and plan on using their catering services for an upcoming business meeting at my job.
