Snow during the Holidays can be the perfect setting to a picture perfect Christmas. But, what do you do if it doesn't snow where you live? There is a modern answer to that question. Most movies filmed in the snow, aren't filmed in real snow at all. In fact, fake snow has been around for years, and years, but it's only recently that Hollywood technology was made affordable. Now you can have your own white Christmas, even if it's bright and sunny outside. There are several options, and styles of snow machines to choose from, with prices that range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. The more affordable snow machines vary in quality, this guide will help you decide which snow machine is right for your family.

The Snowing 30" Snowman as seen on The Home Shopping Network also known as HSN, is quickly becoming a sellout this Holiday. This cute snowman sells for $129.95 plus shipping and handling. This adorable 30" snowman comes with a matching hat, scarf, and mitten set. He is 30 inches tall X 17" wide, and runs off a standard power cord. You can use this snowman for both indoor, and outdoor use, which is wonderful fun at Christmas parties. Your snowflakes spray up to 15 feet from a small bowl the snowman is holding, and the snow looks really cute when there is a breeze outside, and it also has a remote control. The downside of this machine however, might just outweigh the good. Even though the snow is cute, the noise isn't.

This little guy packs a punch, sounding like similar to a light weight vacuum cleaner. Another questionable problem is the site it's sold on www.hsn.com plus the manufacture both claim the snow product is safe for pets and kids, 100% non-toxic, and will not stain fabric. However, the snow concentrate that comes with the snowman clearly states " Immediately flush eyes, and harmful if swallowed". You do get (6) 4 oz bottle of fluid with the snowman, each bottle is mixed with 1 gallon of water, and makes snow for 4 - 5 hours. An additional snow-fluid refill pack can also be purchased for an additional $19.95 + shipping and handling for (8) 4 ounce bottles.

The SM - 80 Snow-machine Chauvet is another style of snow machine that might be more suitable for you. It is a basic small black box that is 13 inches X 6 inches X 7 inches big. This little machine warms up immediately, and has an adjustable snow coverage. It also runs off from a standard 110v cord, and is also adaptable to a 230v. You can use this little guy both inside, and out, plus it can be mounted on the ceiling, or in a tree for a more realistic effect. The total weight of this little machine is just a little over 5 pounds, making it extremely easy for anyone to use.

It also comes with a 1 year warranty, just in-case you run into a problem. With a wired timer, and a remote, this easy, and convenient machine will be the hit of the party. It's by no mean as cute as the snowman snowing machine, but it's built to last for years to come. The SM - 80 isn't silent, but it is tolerable, and the neighbors will not hear it.

The snow coverage speed for this machine is 8 cubic foot of snow coverage per minute, with up to an 18 foot spray. It's no wonder why this machine is the number one choice for DJ's, and popular night spots. The snow-fluid that you will need cost $15.00 per gallon, but last a long, long time. You can get this machine, and the snow-fluid at
www.cheapdjgear.com or www.brandsonsale.com.

So it's really up to you, both of these machines have good, and bad sides to them. Do you want a cute displayable snowman, that serves a purpose, but is loud? Or do you want the SM - 80 Snow-machine which works better then the snowman, hands down, but is just a small black box, with no appeal, however it does has a 1 year warranty? You can always hide the little black box behind other decorations.

A cheaper bubble machine also makes a great winter effect for parties, and light shows. Cheaper bubble machines can be bought for as little as $20.00.
