The following are my favorite cheap antique shops in Boston. My favorite antique shops are those that specialize in a very specific type of antique, such as furniture or porcelain, so I have included those stores, as well as a couple general shops that carry just about everything.
Devonia Antiques, 43 Charles Street, Boston
Whenever I am looking for a new place setting or an entire set of dishes for someone I know I browse Devonia. They keep an online inventory as well, so when I am not going to be in Boston for a while I browse online and then contact the store. Most of the selection at Devonia Antiques is not cheap, but there are quite a few deals that you can find if you look hard enough.
Lannan Ship Model Gallery, 540 Atlantic Avenue, Boston
For all things nautical I like to browse the selection at Lannan Ship Model Gallery. More than just model ships, the gallery is full of décor, household items, art, lighting and instruments that can be used to give a room the perfect touch. With so many unique odds and ends popping up in the gallery, you never know what you will find that you just cannot live without. Some of the lighting and house décor is very well priced and truly a steal.
Light Power, 59A Wareham Street, Boston
On my first trip to Boston I found Light Power and ended up coming home with new lights for my room. Ever since then I have been trying to change the lighting in the rest of the rooms in the house. At Light Power you can find chandeliers, antique lights, furniture and wall sconces. Many of the lights are refurbished on sight so the costs of the lights are lower compared to other antique shops that send the work out before selling. There is bound to be just the deal you are looking for in this huge showroom.
Small Pleasures, 92 State Street, Boston
There are two locations, but I have only been to the downtown store and from what I have seen I am sure the Back Bay store is just as plentiful in antique deals. Specializing in antique jewelry, the selection at Small Pleasures comes from a variety of places including estate sales, private sellers and collectors. The range of jewelry covers art deco, Victorian, Edwardian, and retro pieces among many other styles.
