Pho Huang: Best Pho
Detroiters who are fans of Asian cooking give Pho Huang on Dequindre in Madison Heights the thumbs up for the best pho. Pho, pronounced "fuh," is a native dish that is best described as a hearty soup with rice noodles and a variety of other ingredients, such as beef. Serving relatively inexpensive items, Pho Huang is geared to casual dress, and does not serve alcohol.

Thang Long: Props for Tasty Catfish
Consistently having received good media reviews and high-consumer approval, Thang Long, of Madison Heights, offers an innovative menu and a few extras. Strongly identified with predominantly Vietnamese specialties and some from other categories, Thang Long is a standout. Diners are also encouraged to flavor dishes with lime, herbs and sauces, and to fill other meals with their choice of main ingredients. Recipes are hailed as some of the more tasty Vietnamese fare and reasonably priced, and there is evidence of French influence, too. The catfish, served with ginger and garlic sauce, offers a delicious and filling meal, and the Canh Chua,or hot and spicy soup, is highly regarded by aficionados. Bubble tea is frequently toasted as a delightful extra.

Thuy Trang: Fresh Ingredients
Credited with an extensive menu and extremely fresh ingredients, Thuy Trang, also of Madison Heights, receives consistently impressive grades for delivering authentic meals. From peanut sauce and spring rolls, and rice noodles with pork, appreciative patrons return often - and also acknowledge reasonable prices. Even avocado milkshakes await the discerning diner, and Do-It-Yourself wraps are another feature found here that aren't offered at a lot of restaurants.
