The Best Bars of 2009 in Denver

Ethan Cary
Denver is a great party town! From the local spots to large night clubs, the Mile High City has it all. When you head downtown, a festive place called the Oak Tavern reminds you of an old west honky-tonk bar. You will find the Oak Tavern in a district called "Lodo" (or Lower Downtown) frequented mostly by younger adults later at night. Other great party establishments in Lodo include the Irish-themed Celtic, a nationally renowned sports bar named the Sports Column, and a good old-fashioned neighborhood hot spot called Spill.

Moving farther south, the Cherry Creek area contains many worthwhile party destinations including an upscale restaurant and bar called Elway's (owned by John Elway). Across the street you'll find a fun bar called Second Home on the first floor of the JW Marriott. The festive crowd there generally is above 30 years old and always enjoys a great party.

Heading even farther southwest down I-25 we find the Denver Tech Center. Here, we see patrons from the more affluent south part of town. The people there frequent some trendier bars including Cool River, The Tavern, and Baker's Street. This crowd usually is aged 30 and above but parties like they were in college.

When in Denver, you'll find three great areas of town to enjoy a party. If Lodo doesn't strike your fancy, then you'll probably like the Cherry Creek area or the Denver Tech Center. One thing is certain -- you will enjoy the variety of great bars in Denver!
