The Best Cheap Diaper Brands

Jonna Norris
Still buying the most expensive brands of diapers for your baby? Expensive doesn't necessarily mean better and cheap doesn't always mean cheaply made. Many store brand diapers are good quality at half the price.

I use Walmart's Parents' Choice brand with my own baby, and have been very pleased with its performance. We've had no problems with leakage (she even wears them through the night), and the gel doesn't come out like some cheap diapers. The tabs don't tear and they fit her well. The thing that I like most is the lack of fragrance in these diapers. Many people love the "fresh baby" scent of other diapers, but I hate to put more things against my baby's skin that might irritate it. The price of these diapers is perhaps the most attractive part, coming in at around $.14 per diaper.

Sam's Club makes Member's Mark diapers that are also of good quality. They're sold in bulk, but break down at around $.15 per diaper. They are basically the same as the White Cloud brand of diapers that were discontinued recently. They fit well and are all cloth, so they feel very soft. The only downside is that you have to have a Sam's Club membership to buy them (or know somebody who does).

The Target brand of diaper is another brand that I use often. These are great because, again, they offer a fragrance-free diaper. These don't leak at all, and I even use them at night. They sell for around $.14 per diaper and offer cute designs.

Kroger's Comforts brand of diapers is also very good. They are very absorbent and there's no leakage problems with these diapers. They have a soft feel and vel-cro tabs. The tabs are secure and can reattach if needed.

If you can't stand the thought of not having a name brand diaper, then stick with Luvs. These diapers are fairly inexpensive, and are of great quality. These have elastic tabs that stretch to fit your baby. They have a soft feel and a "fresh scent" if that's what you prefer.

These are only a few of the inexpensive brands of diapers that are now on the market. The bottom line is that every baby is different--skin sensitivity and build are both things that may make one brand of diaper better than another. Try them out and, if they work, give your wallet a break!
