The Best Chinese Food in New York: Chosen Gardens

Hard Worker
One of my favorite Chinese food restaurants in all of New York City is called Chosen Gardens, located in Rego Park in Queens, NY. The amazing thing about Chosen Gardens is that the restaurant is always packed with customers and the food is always great.

Chosen Gardens looks deceptively small in the size of the restaurant but there are two sections, including a downstairs area for more seating. Even with the additional seating, you will be hard pressed to immediately be able to find a table. Usual wait time is about 20 to 40 minutes. People from all over New York City have come to Chosen Gardens because the food is so good.

Chosen Gardens has a wide variety on their menu to choose from. Almost all of the food items come as a dinner which includes your choice of soup, a main entrée, and coffee or tea. With every main course comes a side dish of white or brown rice.

Some of the best dishes on the menu that I have personally tried in the past include: Beef with broccoli, General Tso's chicken, chicken with Cashews and orange flavored chicken. Chosen Gardens also offers lamb and steak as well. There is also a sushi bar if you prefer to order sushi.

The service at Chosen Gardens is very good and all of the waiters and waitresses speak English well. You can also reserve a table ahead of time, although on holiday days like Mother's or Father's Day, you can't reserve a table because the waiting line is so long. On special holiday days there is usual a separate menu with a select number of items to chose from with special pricing.

Desert at Chosen Gardens in Queens is not your ordinary desert menu. The most commonly ordered desert is the sorbet which comes in strawberry, mango and peach flavors. Chinese fortune cookies also come free, compliments of your meal along with a free dish of oranges and pineapples. The appetizers offered at Chosen Gardens are also wonderful. Customers usually order egg rolls, or steamed dumplings.

Pricing for main course dinners usually comes out to about $20 per person, although some items on the menu like their steak might come out to as high as $25 a person if you get it as a dinner meal.

If you would like to experience a great tasting Americanized Chinese restaurant, then Chosen Gardens is the place for you.
