The Polar Express. This magical tale by Chris Van Allsburg tells a magical Christmas story that is a Christmas gift for all readers. Van Allsburg does a magnificent job in instilling the Christmas spirit into its readers. What child doesn't dream of being swept away by Santa Claus for a magical trip to the North Pole on Christmas eve. This story is sure to be a classic and is one your children will enjoy reading to their grand children.
Humphrey's First Christmas. Written by Carol Heyer this Christmas story puts the reader inside the minds of the camels that brought baby Jesus the gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. This imaginative story of Humphrey the camel and his long journey to Bethlehem is a unique look at the Christmas story from a very different perspective.
Legend of the Christmas Stocking. Jim Griffin does a great job with this story telling the reader the story of how the Christmas stocking became such an important part of Christmas. This heartfelt story of kindness and generosity is filled with rich realistic illustrations that are sure to let your child learn the story of the Christmas stocking.
St. Nicholas: The Real Story of the Christmas Legend. Written by Julie Stiegemeyer. Our 2 year old was read this book for the first time when he was just a few months old. He brings it to us almost every day. We have used this book to help introduce the idea of Santa Claus in a meaningful way. If you want your child to understand the real Santa Claus then make sure and share this book with your children. They will probably bring it back to you again and again.
The Christmas Candle. Authored by Richard Paul Evans this is a morality tale that has a very Dickens feel to it. It begs the reader to consider those who are less fortunate and utilizes the Christmas spirit to do so. Would you be more willing to help your brother who is poor than you would a beggar on the street? What if the beggar on the street was your brother? This is the question posed in this magnificent and unique Christmas story. A must read for every parent and child.
Hope you enjoy making reading memories with your child this Christmas, Merry Christmas.
