Bernie O's
Anytime we have company from out of town, we try to order pizza from Bernie O's. This independent, locally owned pizza shop offers signature pizzas, toasted subs and hearty salads. One of their pizzas has received recognition from the trade publication, Pizza Today Magazine.
Some of our favorites are the Tater (pizza with mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, tomato and ranch dressing), and the Hot Wing (with hot wing chicken chunks, celery, cheese and buttermilk ranch dressing). We are also fans of several of their toasted subs. They offer a delicious Greek chicken sub (served with lettuce, black olives, feta cheese, croutons and yellow peppers), along with a Chicken Caesar, Antipasto, Chef and Club sandwich. Dessert can also be ordered with choices like Brownie Bites or Sweet Stix (bread sticks with melted butter, cinnamon, maple and frosting).
Bernie O's is located in North Muskegon, however, they deliver throughout Muskegon County. The cost for a large pizza runs about $16, and a toasted sub about $7.
Gustino's Pizza & Grinders
Another favorite of ours is Gustino's Pizza & Grinders. Although they specialize in both pizza and grinders, we almost always opt for the grinders (a toasted submarine sandwich) because they are both filling and delicious. Some options include the reuben, spicy buffalo chicken, meatball, taco or Philly roast beef grinder. They also offer Italian inspired sandwiches like the calzone. For appetizers or snacks, some favorites are onion petals, jalapeno poppers, Brew city (beer battered) fries and potato skins. A large grinder (often enough for two people) costs about $10, and a standard size grinder about $6.
Gustino's is located on Sherman Boulevard just off of U.S. Route 31 near Wal-Mart. They are one of the closest pizzerias to the mall as well as several hotels including the Comfort, Hampton and Fairfield Inns.
Other delivery pizzerias and sub shops deserving honorable mention include Mr. Scrib's and Greek Tony's Pizza and Sub Shop.
