The Best Dessert in Central New York

Growing up, I always thought that Bingham's Restaurant (located in Kingsley, PA) served the best pies. This is why Bingham's restaurant (which is, conveniently, a halfway point for a 4 to 5 hour drive when visiting my grandparents) was a necessary stop.

Never in my life did I imagine that there are better pies out there... and much closer to home in Central New York!

That is until just recently, when an incurable sweet tooth led me to "Sweeties"... a small dessert shop found next to Green Thumb nursery on Rt. 11 in Lafayette, NY. (This is just outside of Nedrow for all of you Central NY smokers travelling for cheaper cigarettes!)

Please allow me to apologize to Bingham's for my disloyalty. Your homemade bread and pies are surely unbeatable within the state of Pennsylvania but I am certain now, after a taste of the raspberry rhubarb pie at Sweeties, that the best pie in Central NY is also the best pie on the entire East Coast.

If you live in, or near, Central New York... it is worth the drive to visit Sweeties Desserts in Lafayette. A second trip confirmed that the strawberry rhubarb pie also surpasses the pies that once encouraged me to visit family 5 hours away, for a "convenient stop" at Bingham's Restaurant.

However, you should not review a dessert bar without first sampling everything available. If you have a soft spot for homemade pies, baked fresh daily, then you need look no further than Sweeties in Lafayette, NY. However... please do not stop there! (You can burn off the calories later, I promise!)

Have you ever tasted a brownie that was so rich, delicious, and big that this brownie lasted you several satisfied tastings? Mmmm... pure luxury! Well, Sweeties in Lafayette, NY is the place to go to experience this sensation. (I recommend the chocolate brownie topped with peanut butter fudge.)

If pies and brownies still aren't enough to convince you, this roadside stop on Rte. 11 (just outside of Nedrow) also serves a large variety of ice cream... including over 24 flavors of soft serve ice cream.

It's important to mention the greatest benefit of Sweeties... the price is unbeatable! This small, family owned and operated dessert shop is priced just right for families with children who also have a sweet tooth.

Finally, if you do not live in Central NY (or do not wish to drive to Lafayette) then you can order one of the best pies in the East Coast to be shipped directly to you... how convenient is that? (Try the raspberry rhubarb pie, you'll become another regular!)
