If you want to eat some of most amazing donuts on the planet you need to drive to Denver. Denver, NC that is, near the shores of Lake Norman and within a 30 minute ride north from the Queen city of Charlotte. There you will find Family Dough Donuts, a store run by the brothers Mitchell and Scott Edmondson.

Family Dough Donuts is famous for its hot fresh hand-dipped donuts. The sign out front prepares you for 'A Unique Donut Experience' and that is exactly what you get. These donuts are made by hand right in front of you, and they are among the best tasting fried dough you will ever experience.

"We've got quite the following," said Mitchell. "We have two kinds of customers, those that live here and know us and those that are traveling through the Lake Norman area and find us. Then, they come back."

Find them on facebook at Family Dough Donuts.

If you ever stop at Family Dough Donuts you'll want to come back too after tasting these delicious treats. Coming to you fresh from the fryer, you have your choice of options. The Lake Norman Sand Donut features a Honey Glaze and Cinnamon Sugar coating that melts in your mouth and will have you begging for more.

Other featured donuts are the Lake Norman Mud Donut (caramel glaze with mini chocolate chips) and the Morning Blast Donut (chocolate mocha and Oreo).

You can find the full menu online at the Family Dough Donuts website.
