The Best Educational TV Shows for Kids

There are so many channels and TV shows dedicated to kids of all different age groups. How do parents know which shows are the best for their child? The absolute best way to find out the top educational shows on TV is to watch all the different ones with your child so you have first hand knowledge of what the child might get out of it. The majority of parents would rather their child get some educational benefit or some knowledge of how to conduct themselves in real life situations. You and your child can learn a lot from watching the right type of shows on TV.

The best kids' cartoons and shows on TV that I have found are Dora The Explorer, Word World, Super Why, Sid The Science Kid, Sesame Street, The Fresh Beat Band, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Blue's Clues, Between the Lions, Cailou and Go Diego Go. They are viewed on popular kids channels such as Disney, Nikelodeon, Sprout and WNED. I actually think that the only free channel WNED(PBS) has the most educational parent approved shows that have the best learning examples compared to the others but, they all have very helpful lessons to learn.

By experiencing these shows together with your child you can interact with them at the level they are currently learning at. When they see you answer the questions and solve the puzzles they try to copy you and learn much faster. Knowing the best shows for your child allows you to sort out all the shows that waste space on a channel and monitor only the top kids shows.

Many programs or cartoons don't have any educational value and can actually wear negatively on a child leaving them with bad habits as time goes on. One of the best learning cartoons I chose was Dora the Explorer. This kids show interacts with your child and asks them questions allowing them to respond solving puzzles and problems. It teaches names of objects, colors and shapes and compares them with each other testing the child's brain and memory. Dora shows the child how to virtually travel around town using maps and mazes. It shows the child what is the best way to get around town by using different methods of travel.

Other top children's shows include Word World, Super Why and Between the Lions which are all extremely educational and actually teach your child about letters, shapes, words and reading. Some show how to read along by adding closed captioning on the screen and highlighting the words as they are said.
